The hope is that the furniture arrives before school starts and we can transition from the old into the new. We are already thinking about how we can get help from students or parent volunteers in swapping the books. • Parent/Community Member Updates: • Mr. VanDeurse expressed that the PTO Science Fair was terrific and good to be back in person. Ms. Dawson shared that she and other families are happy to learn that the early dismissal day for next year will be on Fridays. She commented that she understands why staff may not be fond of the timing, but for a working parent, it is much easier to manage. Ms. Dawson also questioned whether or not a mask mandate would return in LPS. Ms. Corduck reminded that it is up to the Lexington Board of Health to determine that. Mr. Zhang inquired about how parents can potentially support teachers. Ms. Murali asked about how we were doing with staffing levels and substitute teachers. Ms. Corduck shared that lately it wasn't as challenging as it had been. • Discuss and plan for beginning of the year: • Ms. Corduck reviewed the enrollment information and the decline in enrollment. The impact on Bowman is that we are decreasing by two sections - 2nd and 3rd grade. How this affects classroom teachers remains to be seen. Mr. VanDeurse mentioned that Ms. Murali and Ms. Dawson were finished with their council terms. It was suggested that Ms. Corduck communicates to the community information about the Site Council. Ms. Corduck reminded Bowman Elementary School 19 Philip Road I Lexington,MA 102421 the council that PTO manages the elections for new parent/caregiver members. Ms. Corduck also stated that at the start of the year, in a Friday newsletter, she shares information about Site Council so that parents know what it is tasked to do. Ms. Corduck also stated that sharing that information now in preparation for the elections makes sense. Meeting Adjourned at 8:45AM
