The Committee voted unanimously to have Keith send a letter to the Planning Board supporting The Friends of Arlington's Great Meadows letter of March 24, 2022, expressing concerns about the Emerson Gardens Rd entrance to the AGM and related signage. Reports/Updates Meeting options The Committee agreed with Keith's recommendation to continue meeting via Zoom through the June meeting. How we meet starting in September will depend somewhat on the state's revisiting of open meeting requirements in July. Keith will inquire as to whether hybrid (in person + zoom) meeting will be allowed and supported technology-wise by the town. Bridge School boardwalk repairs Keith reported that the Conservation Department has agreed to purchase the needed materials and arrange for the disposal of debris. The project can thus proceed this season. Center Park Pathway report Keith met with Parker St abutters of the path that runs from Worthen Rd behind the basketball courts, pool, tennis courts and playground to Clarke St. They would appreciate having the path shown as a feeder path (green connector) on the ACROSS map. This area is in flux with proposed projects for the tennis courts and a new high school. Keith left it with the neighbors that if they got the path designated by the town (e.g., the Recreation Dept), we would include it on future editions of the map (not the upcoming printing). Bike/Ped Plan Update Peggy reported that Town Meeting had approved $65k for the update of the plan. Her focus will now shift to making sure it's a progressive plan, rather than a copy and paste of some other town's plan. Peggy is drafting GCC input to the Planning Department on scoping of the RFQ. To be discussed further at the May GCC meeting. WalkMassachusetts update Peggy reported that last month's meeting was mostly about sidewalks and particularly in winter the need for plowing. This is considered an issue of equity for pedestrians relative to automobiles. Meagherville "Muddy Angle" permit application With assistance from Mike and Mal, Peggy submitted an RDA to the Conservation Dept for a new set of boardwalks. Pending Conservation Commission approval, the aim is to have the pieces of the project constructed as Scout projects. Failing that, the GCC could apply for a grant for funding and construction by the Conservation Stewards and neighbors in 2023. Commuter Breakfast (May 20), Discovery Day (May 28) participation Let Keith know if you are available to staff a table in the morning on May 20 and for all or part of the time at Discovery Day. Ongoing Business Brochure/Map redesign update Mike has finalized the updated map. Susan will shortly send it to the designer for the first pour. Town Meeting approved the PIR request for funding. We are on track to get it to the printer in June for printing in July. LHS special needs students brochure distribution volunteer. Let Susan know If you can provide oversight for distribution of the new brochure in the fall. New Business Spring route auditing for missing signs, etc. Keith will circulate a spreadsheet for members to sign up for auditing signage on the routes. Supplies are available in Bob Hausslein shed. Mark the spreadsheet when you have completed your audit. Install Route P Keith will organize work parties to put 8 posts in the ground along the route. Conservation will be keeping an eye on the portion of the route that goes along the western edge of the meadow behind the Valley Rd tennis courts which is wet sometimes and may require a boardwalk in the future. Elsewhere along the route, abutters of the paper street path at the end of Blake Rd have trimmed back the shrubs to widen the path. Pending Items: Proposal to survey ACROSS brochure users/Marketing Plan — Fall Project (Susan) Archive options for maintaining copies of ACROSS artwork, etc. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 pm. Next Meeting: May 5, 4:30-6 pm via Zoom Future 2022 Meeting Dates: June 2, September 8, October 6, November 3, December 1
