The meeting was opened in the Selectmen' s Room at
2 :30 The following members were in attendance :

Town Accountant.
This joint meet' n- is for the purpose of going over
the Special Articles in the Warrant for the Town Meeting.
The first i. tems taken un with the Board of Selectmen were
differences in the regular Budgets ender Article 4.
Assessors ' Department - EXpenses. The Appropriation
Committee approved t'-is Bu 3get for . 620.00, but the Select-
men had approved it for 1695.00; the dif�'erence being in
the auto allowance. The " 25.00 item for gas and oil was
stricken out of the Bud-et, and that $25.0' was added to
the alto allowance . The total remained at 1620.00.
Registrations Department - Expenses. This Budget
had not been approved by the Board of Selectmen as they were
waiting for figures for the book "Twenty Years or Over"
from Mr. Carroll_. As the figures have not been submitted,
the Board of Selectmen approved the Budget for $381.00; the
same as approved by the Appropriation Committee.
Engineering Department - Personal Services. sere
was a difference in this Budget due to the compensation of the
Transi tman. The compensation, before c )nsideri_ng the 15
increase, vas :07.00 instead of X37.50. The Board of
Selectmen approved this Budget for t11, 879.73 - the same
as apnroved�by the Appropriation Committee .

Snow Removal Budget. The Selectmen did not approve
t1^is as they said it is customary that- the amount be set at
the time of the Town Meeting. RoWever, the Appropriation
Committee is to include in their Budget the $20,000.00 as
previously approved.
The Pictorial Town Report. Mr. Foyt stated that
this had been disapproved by the Appropriation Committee.
uoTever, after further discussion on this, the Appropriation
Committee approves. the Bud et for X500.00.
A motion was made, seconded and voted to approve
this Budget in the amount of $500.00 .
Fighway Maintenanne - Chapter 90 - Total Approved
500.00.
This Budget vas approved on January 7, 1946 for
$1,000.00. A motion was made, secnded and voted to rescind
the previous vote , and reconsider the Budget.
It Is the understanding of this Committee that the
Sate has approved Chapter .90 maintenance in the amount of
1:500.00 only.
A motion was made, secon ed• and voted that this
Budget be apnroved for 450''.00.
It was decided that the purchase of a new police
car would be taken out of the tax rate instead of Excess
and. Deficiency.
The request for the Locker Building by the Park
Department was disap-roved by this Committee due to the un-
certaI my of building. It was finally decided that both
Committees would do nothing on this for this year.
Highway Construct;_ 'n - Grove Street - Chapter 90 .
The 35,000.00 in the Budget for this work is to be transfer ped
from Excess and Deficiency.
Article 18: The construction of granolithic or
bituminous concrete sidewalks. Under this Article the amount
of 11,500.00 was approved and such amount is to be taken
from the tax rate.
A motion was made, seconded and voted that this
be aproved in the amount of 11,500.00 and that such sum
be taken from the tax rate.
Patriot' s Day - Total Approved 1;300.00.
This Budget was approved on February 4, 1946 for
31,00Q.00. A motion was made , seconded and voted to rescind
the previous vote and reconsider tis Budget.
A motion was made, seconded and voted to approve
t?^.i s Budget In the am.-)unt of $300.00.
• Article 45 : To celebrate the return of men and
women returinc from the Armed Services. Tinder this Article,
5,000.00 was approved. •
A motion was made, seconded and voted that this
be approved in the amount of $5,000.00 and that such sum
be taken out of tax levy.
The Par' i.ng Area requires the sum of $56,000.00.
This project was• discussed with the Board of Selectmen and
they were of the opinion that landtakings etc. could be
completed for the $56,000.00, and $6,000.00 w )uld be taken
out of the Excess and Deficiency Account, and the remainder
of $50,000.00 could be bonded.
,'o act' on was taken on this by the Appropriation Com-
mittee .
Article 72 : To see if. the Town will vote to accept
Gen. Taws of Massachusetts, Chap. 40, Section 9. This Article
pertains to a town appropriating; money for quarters for
Veterans. This Committee is disapprov.' ng this Article.
At 5 :05 P.7‘% , the Appropriation Comma ttee left the
Selectmen' s Room and returned to the Town Accountant' s Office
at wh' ch time they considered the Parkin Area, and they
wish to be put on record as disapproving this due to the .
fact that it can be considered next year, and also on account
of 1.1 tir;ati on.
It was voted that the Appropriation Committee meet
Monds.y night with the Board of Selectmen at which time figures
w- 11 be available as to the possible tax rate.
The meet' ng adjourned at 5 :25 P.M.
