The minutes of the meeting of January 7, 1946 -
havng been mailed to each member - here apnroved by the
Com- tee .
Chairman Levis L. Hoyt said that he understood
the Oheirman of the Committee on Future School Sites was
going to nut an article in the warrant to take by purchase
or eminent domain a piece of lend for the High School.
Registrrations Department - Personal Services - Total
Approved '700.00.
A motion T.,as m de, seconded and voted to approve
this Budget i.n the amount of -,700.00.
At 7:55 P. . , John I:y 3ns and other members of the
'nbli c "elfare Commi.' tee, and 'Tr. Janes Collins were admitted
to this meeting.
Mr. TVons said that their tot,:l budget amounted. to
190, 919.85 aga' ns t a total budget for 1945 of $79,072.42. He
said the increase teas due primarily to 'old Age Assistance.

Public welf re - Person^1 Services Budget. Mr. Lyons
stated that the Agent is aski nr- for an increase of 12.30 a
reek; also an increase is bei n- asked for Mrs. Vary E. Casey
of )4.0n a reek. 'Frs . Casey's salary at the new rate would be
!!32.75, and mr. Collin' s new rate Could be 46.00. mr. T-Tons
stated that Mrs . Casey's present salary is ? 1,499.79, and the
maximum for that n siti on under Civil Service is ' 1,560.00.
t°'ith this increase asked for, Mrs. Casey' s salary would be
',1, 650.12 which would be beyond the Civil Service salary
schedule, but Mr. Collins stated that the 15% increase is al-
lowable.
'ublic ' elfare - Administration Items. Last year
the fi r;ure was '160.00; this year they are asking , 120.00.
Public relfare - Aid Expenses. Asking this year
again for 20,000.00.
Dependent Children - AU Expenses. Asking this
year main for 438,100.00.

Soldiers ' Relief - Aid ?- Expenses. They only spent

Military Aid. Askin; for cl,500.00. They snent
dur. in.- the year 1945 "775.00.
Soldiers' Burials. R`r. T,yons stated he would like
to raise this budget from the :200.00 requested to n300.00.

' At 9 :0q P.M. , 7r. Russell, Chairman of the Board
of Health, -las admitted to this meeti n- Lo go over the Health
Department - Expense Budget. ',Tr. Russell is the new Chairman
over 'Dr. Ivan Pyle who was unable to take the Chairmans'i.i.p
ar business warranted his time. Mr. Russell stated that at
present we have committed three more tuberculosis patients
since last June, and that now re have seven patients at
Middlesex ganatorium at an annual cost of '^54'7.50 each. One
child is at Lakeville Sanatorium. —i th the patients at the
tuberculosis hosnitals at the present time, re have a commit-
ment for the year of 14,745.00. They need about '150.00 to
bri nr; the Board of Health supplies up to date, and. Mr. Russell
said that last year alone there were seventy-three dog bites.
Health Dexartment - Outlay. Mr. Russell stated
that at present the Board of Health Book on Rules and Regula-
tions is not in line with the State. He said that they have
to et gut an entirely new book on Rules and Re;gulations.
Mr. Russell., in closing, stated that with the fi Mures he has
su' mitted, it will be necessary for the Board of Health to
have at least 46,000.00 to do their r ark this year.
Mr. Russell left the meeting at 9:20 P.M.
