January 25, 1945
The annual meeting of the Town Finance Come-i ttee s
was held at the Hotel Sheraton, Boston, Massachusetts on
January 25, 1945.
The members Present were Harvey rinlock, Lewis T.
TToyt and Raymond T. White.
The first matter to come before this meeting was
the Treasurer' s Report which was submitted and approved.
The new President elected was Harry Marshall of Wakefield;
the Vice President was Harold M. T.a•,ison, Needham; Leon G.
'dent, Treasurer, and good old faithful, Danforth ?"'. Comins,
Executive Secretary.
Mr. Comins stated that two new towns had joined
the Association - Sherborn and Westford.
George Searles of the Division of Accounts spoke
with regards to surpluses of the various towns. He also
spoke about the fact that the average white collar worker
of the towns had received a 15/ temporary increase. The
1945 tax rate will be somewhat controlled by Governor Tobin' s
Budget Message. According to his message, no state tax will
be required to be raised by the towns this year. The
estimated income and corporrtion taxes will be approximately
the same as last year. Tn other words on the Cherry Sheet,
the estimated taxes for 1945 will be comparably the same
as 1944. Because the state tax will be omitted, it will
reduce each town about 't10,000.00 on the tax rate.
The meeting adjourned at 9;15 P.M.
