Minutes of the Meeting Held February 27, 1944
It was regularly moved and voted to dispense with the
reading of the minutes of the regular meeting held February 27,
1944.
Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt stated that Mr. James J. Walsh,
Cemetery Commissioner, had raised a question to him in regards to
the transferring of funds from the Sale of Lots Fund. The Cemetery
Commissioners were hoping that this Fund could accumulate each year
so that in time sufficient money would be available to erect a
building on the cemetery grounds.
At 8:05 P.M. this Committee adjourned to the Selectmen' s
Room to hold a joint meeting as required by the Appropriation By-
Laws. The Chairman of the Board of Assessors, the Chairman of the
School Committee and the Chairman of the Cemetery Commissioners
were invited to attend this meeting.
The joint meeting was called to order by Lewis L. Hoyt
at 8:08 P.T .
Chairman Hoyt then asked Mr. Clyde E. Steeves, Chairman
of the Board of Assessors, if he had any question regarding the
appropriation. Mr. Steeves replied that he had none.

Mr. A. Edward Rowse, Chairman of the Board of Select-
men, spoke about the appropriation for April 19th. His Board
feels that the entire appropriation of $300.00 should come out
of the tax levy. Chairman Rowse claims that the April 19th
Committee can use what income is in the Leroy S. Brown Fund. In
fact he stated that the April 19th Committee was doubtful as to
whether or not there would be an afternoon parade this year. Per-
haps there will be only the early morning parade, and in such case,
money from the Leroy S. Brown Fund would be used and not the appro-
priation.
Mr. Tracy Ames of the School Committee entered this meet-
- ing. Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt asked him if he had any questions in
regards to the appropriation. He stated that there were no quest-
ions as the appropriation was as requested.
No member of the Cemetery Commissioners was present at
this meeting.
The joint meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
The Appropriation Committee reconvened in the Town Ac-
countant' s office at 9:00 P.M.
Chairman Hoyt then read the Report of the Special Com-
mittee, appointed by the Moderator, to study and make recommenda-
tions as to the various Town Departments.
The following Departments considered in this Report
were: The Assessors, Board of Health, Town Treasurer and Tax
Collector.
The Report is to be presented at the Annual Town Meet-
ing to be held March 13, 1944.
There was a general discussion relative to Articles 30
and 33. Portions of these Articles were changed and it was decided
to have written copies of Articles 30 and 33 ready to pass out to
Town Meeting Members at the Annual Town Meeting.
