HELD AT THE TOr'N OFFICE BUILDING, MONDAY
EVENING, FEBRUARY 7, 1944.
Notification of this meeting was furnished to all mem-
bers of the Committee.
The meeting was opened in the office of the Town Account-
ant at 8:10 P.M. , by Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt, with the following
members in attendance :

Ronald D. Brown Richard W. Maynard
Fred C. Newhall Thacher Jenney
Raymond L. White, Town Accountant
Minutes of the Meeting Held January 31, 1944.
It was regularly moved and voted to dispense with the
reading of the minutes of the regular meeting held January 31,
1944.
Yr. James J. Carroll, Clerk of the Board of Registrars,
was admitted to this meeting. He stated that the Registrations
Department - Expense budget would have to be increased, due to the
fact that there would be four elections, instead of three, in the
year 1944. The item for Printing voting Lists would have to be in-
creased from 1225.00 to 1300.00 and Advertising from ':100.00 to
1108.00. Mr. Carroll also wanted this Committee to reconsider the
Registrations Department - Personal Services budget. He stated
that he needed more money for Clerical Assistance, as :150.00 would
not be sufficient to do the work. ye said that he had originally
requested 1400.00 but that 1300.00 would be satisfactory and that
he would do what he could. Re also stated that •;~200.00 would be
sufficient for the Assistant Registrars. MTr. Carroll left the
meeting at 8:30 P.M.
A motion was made, seconded and voted to reconsider the
Registrations Department - ExPense budget and the Registrations
Department - Personal Services budget.
Registrations Department - Expenses - Total Approved ?493.00
The following items were changed:
Printing voting„Lists to 1300.00 and
Advertising to pl08.00.

A motion was made, seconded and voted to approve this
budget as revised in the amount of $493.00.
Registrations Department - Personal Services - Total Approved leoo.00
The item for Assistant Registrars was reduced to : 200.00
and the item for Clerical Assistance was changed to ' 300.00.
A motion was made, seconded and voted to approve this
budget as revised in the amount of : 800.00.
Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt spoke about the 200.00 for Watch
Rorinis in the Park Department - Capital Outlay Budget. After a
general discussion by the Committee, it was decided to include this
item in the Parks F- Playgrounds - 'ages & Exnenses Budget.
A motion was made, seconded and voted to reconsider the
Parks & Playgrounds - "ages & Expenses Budget.
Parks R Pl ayQrounds - "ages - Expenses - Total Approved ':g1,700.00
The item for watch Borings in the amount of 1,200.00 was
added to this budget.
A motion vas made, seconded and voted to approve this
budget as revised in the amount of : 8,700.00.
Patriot' s Day - Total Approved : 300.00
A motion was made, seconded and voted to annrove this
budget 1.n the amount of X300.00, of which ? l50.00 is to be trans-
ferred from the Leroy S. Brown Fund.
At 10:30 P.?+?. , Mr. A. Edward Rowse, Chairman of the
Board of Selectmen, entered this meeting and stated that the Board
of Selectmen had approved the Registrations Depar ent - Expense
Budget as revised, but that they had not approved the Registrations
Department - Personal Services Budget as revised. Yr. Rowse stated
that the Board had given him authority to approve the Registrations
Department - Personal Services Budget as revised in accordance with
the Appropriation Committees decision and approval.
. T:rr. Rowse stated that the Board of Selectmen had increased
the Highway Department - Road Machinery Account by :' 5,000.00 for
Possible equipment replacements. 'qr. Rowse left the meeting at ap-
nroximately 11:15 P.M.

Total Approved 12,700.00
A motion was made, seconded and voted to reconsider this
budget.
The Item for replacing equipment in the amount of
5.,000.00 vas added to this budget.
A motion was made, seconded and voted to approve this
budget as revised in the amount of 312,700.00.
The remainder of the evening was spent in reading and
changing the introduction to the Appropriation Committee' s Report
as submitted by the Chairman Lewis L. I-?oyt. Also, the Articles
of the warrant were considered.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 P.M.
