Members present were. LEXINGTON
Bob Burbidge, Bill Kennedy, Henry Liu, Lester Savage, Bob Phelan, Martha Wood, Donna Leary, and Bill Hays. Also
present were Pearlene Varjabedian, Housing Director and Karen Iverson, Patricia S. Nelson, counsel to LexHAB., Bob
Pressman of the Lexington Housing Partnership. Absent was Regina Brown, Financial Administrator and Gerry Howell.
The Chairman, Bob Burbidge presided.
Task Force Update for Executive Director Position
The Task Force presented as draft Job Description. Discussion followed including review of existing
responsibilities of staff, independent contractors and the Board. A number of edits were discussed.
Motion to accept the Executive Director Job description as edited. All in favor by Roll Call.
SCREENING COMMITTEE
Bob Burbidge—
The Chair proposed setting up a screening committee since having the discussion in an open session will be
detrimental to the public body's ability to attract qualified applicants for the position
- The committee would consist of Bill Kennedy, Robert Phelan, Karen Iverson, Pat Nelson and Pearlene
Varjabedian.
Motion to establish a screening committee-For the purpose of screening candidates for
Executive Director to review resumes, conduct interviews, and make recommendation(s)
To the Board.
Donna Leary had to leave meeting call
Henry Liu abstained from Vote. -6 Members were in favor by Roll Call.
Motion made to delegate to the screening committee to make non substantive changes to the job description.
All favor by Roll Call
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Chair moved to adjourn the Open Session and go into Executive Session to discuss strategy with
respect to litigation as an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the litigating position of the Lexington
Housing Assistance Board and to discuss tenant matters that if considered in Open Session might adversely affect
privacy rights of individuals.
