Present: Donald P, Noyes, Chairman Richard H. Battin J. Harper Blaisdell John R. Bevan Logan ularke Jr. Oscar R. Carlson Robert H. Kingston Frank T. Parrish Jr. Raymond L. White, Secretary Ralph B. Fifield Jr. Telephoned that he would not be present as he was still home with the cold. The First business to come before this meeting was requests for trans- fer of $2,500.00 from the Reserve Fund to Public Welfare Aid and Expenses and Y a request for a transfer of '500.00 from the Reserve fund to Veterans Benefits, ,4 Aid and Expenses account. A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer the sum of $3,000. 00 from the Reserve Fund to Publice welfare Aid and xpenses $2,500.00: and Veter- ans Benefits, Aid and Expenses *500.00. Donald P. Noyes, Chairman stated that the following sub divisions of Article 4 has increased in this years budget by the following amounts: General Government 2,768.00 Protection of Persons & PropertY72,296.00 Public Services 211, 121.00 Education 581,982.00 Library 34,337.00 Public Welfare & Benefits 11,279.00 Cemeteries 4,600.00 Debt 217i000.00 $1,135,,383.00 The total of all budgets submitted to date amount to the sum of $5,229, 103.94. Budget not included are Law Department, Personal Services, Special Fees and Expenses; School Department, all of their budgets. At 8:03 P.M. Rev. Harold T. Handley, Karl Nyren and William F. Buckley of the Library entered our meeting to go over their budget. Karl Nyren stated that the East Lexington Branch Library needs to be painted and would cost approximately $3,000.00 and if we used aluminum siding it would cost us not much more. At 8: 15 P. M. Mr Gray enterd our meeting to ask for 48,500.00 from our Reserve Fund to Snow Removal. We told him we only had $ 8,353.07 in the Reserve Account. The chairman suggested that we could transfer 8,000.00 from our Reserve Fund tothe Snow Removal account. A motion was made, seconded and voted ' to transfer the sum of 8,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to Snow Removal account. After the vote Mr. Gray left our meeting. Mr. Nyren answered our question on State Aid to Library and said the money from the State was to improve Library services. Exhibits & Publicaty 4475.00 in their budget is to indentify things they buy. The overall increase looks like approximately 15%. 4 ab The question was asked about money received on fines charged for excess time on books out. Mr. Nyren stated that such money was used to buy books. Fines are now ten cents a day on phonograph records. Rev. Handley, Karl Nyren and William Buckley left our meeting at 10:05 P.M. The next item considered was the request of 8,000.00 fromthe Reserve Fund ,to Snow Removal. A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer 8,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to Snow Removal Account. A general discussion was had on budgets, etc. and this meeting adjourned at 10:50 P. M. Our next meeting to be held on Monday evening, January 6, 1964 at 7:30 P. M. Raymond L. White, Secretary • {
