Th Appropriation Committee met Monday, December 9, 1963 at 7:44.5 P.M.

Messrs Rufus L. McQuillan, Chairman, Dr. William L. Cosgrove and
James M. West entered our meeting at 8::00 P. M. to go over their Board
of Health Budgets. The first budget discussed was Personal Service No.
11-A item Vacation Coverage and Extra Help 300.00; Expenses, No. 11-B
Innoculations from 300.00 to 600.00. The Board stated this increase is
due to increase service which we have to give, Middlesex County Sanatorium
from $1,200.00 to 2,000.00. This is on account of increase in cost from
$10.25 to $11.50 a day per Patient. Medicine - Home T. B. patient 4300.00.
This is a new item this year and so far the cost of T. B. medicine to date
is 330.00. Health - Engineering budget No. 11-C. There is a saving in
this budget of $ 1,000.00 from 1,500.00 for year 1963 to 00.00 for year
1964. The next budget considered was Dental Clinc. Dr. osgrove spoke
about a dental chair they could purchase at a good price. This chair
includes unit lights and drill.
Mr. Irving H. Mabee of the planning board entered our meeting to
request an emergency appropriation of $1,000.00 for general expenses,
as money was spent for consultant services. A motion was made, seconded
and voted to transfer $1,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to pj.anning Board
Expense Account.
The Board of Fire Commissioners, William P. Fitzgerald, Chairman,
J. S. Nsson Whitney and Stanley E. Robbins entered our meeting at 9:00
. P.M. to discuss and go over their budgets. On personal service budget,
the firemen are going from a 56 to a 50.4 hour a week. The past year
the fire department had 408 calls for the am4ulande. Reguesting a new
fire engine to replace Engine 4 and to cost 03,000.00. Engine 4 has
gone between 25,000.to 26,000. running miles.
The Fire Commissioners left our meeting at 10:25 P. M. and ad-
journed at 10:30 P.M.
