The Appropriation Committee met Monday, October 14, 1963 in the office
of the Town Accountant.

Raymond L. White, Secretary
Logan Clarke Jr. telephoned that he was in bed with a cold so could
not be present.
John R. Bevan telephoned that he was going to Philadelphia tonight
‹• on business.
Mr. Alfred Gray, Executive Assistant entered our meeting at 8:20 P.M.
to speak about an office building on Worthern Road. A pumping station will
be necessary to take care of this building and other buildings in this section
and $10,000 will be necessary to be taken out of free cash before the Town
meeting.
The Board of Selectmen wanted to know how we felt and if we would go
along with them. This Committee aproves.
The Board of Selectmen requests a transfer of $706.62 from our Reserve
Fund to 'Selectmen Department — Expense account as per their letter of October
8, 1963. A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer $706. 62 from our
Reserve Fund to Selectmen' s Expense account.
The Board of Selectmen requests a transfer of $200.00 from our Reserve
Fund to Fire Department, Ambulance 11aintenance Account.
John Blaisdell spoke in general on Garbage Collection Present contract
for $38,000.00 expires May 1, 1964. If contract is to be $50,00 a year,
then the question is whether we should go into municipal collections. Garbage
is a function of the Selectmen. Trucks would cost at least $6,000.00 each.
Donald Noyes to contract John Carroll to arrange a meeting for this
committee to meet with us.
Remainder-, for Donald Noyes to ask John Carrott about street Maintenance.
Civil Defense: Question is "What is the program" Get something on paper.
John Blaisdell spoke again about charging for snow removal in church
yard.
Richard Battin entered this meeting at 9:30 p.m. after having met
with the School on their 1964 budget and spoke on the following::
Present teacher's staff will increase $280,000.00
Out of state travel will be $16,000.00
Mr. Irving H Mabee of the Planning entered our meeting to talk
about a planner to replace Samuel Snow. He read the ad they had in a

planner magazine and stated they got eight replies. There were two who
answered who were qualified and wanted a salary over $10,000 a year. Irving
wanted to know would the Appropriation Committee support them if they had
to pay $10,500 for a planner., The Appropriation Committee stated they
would support the planning Board for a $10,500.00 a year planner.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P.N.
