HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-10-08-AC-MIN.pdf CI; AN October 8, 1963 The Appropriation Committee met Monday, September 30, 1963 at 7:30 P.M. in the office of the Town Accountant to meet with the Lexington Town Meeting "embers Association. Present: Donald P. Noyes, Chairman John R. Bevan Oscar R. Carlson Ralph B. Fifield Jr. J. Harper Blaisdell Robert H. Kingston Raymond L. White, Secr4tary Town Meeting Member Association officers present were Homer J. Hagedorn, Co-chairman, Mrs Richard H. Battin Co-chairman Norman Richards. Mr. Hagedorn, co-chairman stated that they were collecting com- parative data on the various functions and operations of the Town. They are here to get the operations and functions of the Appropria- tion ppropriation• Committee, such as expenditures out of the Reserve Fund which is under the control of the Appropriation Committee. The Town Clerk Treasurer and Collector positions were mentioned. Here the Town Clerk and Treasurer is the same person, other Towns have the Treasurer and Collector combination handled by eine person and the Town Clerk by another person. A. change should be made here. There are nineteen towns which now have Town Managers. John Blaisdell suggested that the Appropriation Committee and Capital Expenditures Committee be combined as one and reduce the membership to five members. Another suggestion made was the chairman of the Appropriation Committee should be a member at large of the Town Meeting Members, the same as the Selectmen. It was suggested not to have a by Law Committee-should be taken off the books - serves no purpose. The Lexington Town Meeting Members officers left our meeting at 9: 10 p.m. John Blaisdell spoke in general on the garbage condition in the Town and the garbage contract. Mr. Lincoln Cole Jr. Chairman of the Board of Selectmen entered our meeting to request a transfer front the Reserve Fund in order to pay the following items. Complaint forms 31.75 Personnell forms 103.00 Travel expenses 107.00 Tam Appraised expense 200.00 Miliage 210.00 Mr. Evans 80.00 HTS. .r $731.75 440 Mr. Lincoln Cole is to send to this Committee a written request so it can be acted on at next meeting. Another item spoken about is that the firemen are going to ask for 50.4 hours a week. Another item to be considered at our next meeting is to charge for private snow plowing.
