The Appropriation Committee met Monday, September 23, 1963 at 7:30
- P. M. in the office of the Town Accountant to act on requests for
expenditures from the Reserve Fund.

�- Mrs. Logan Clarke Jr. telephoned and said Logan was ill and would
not be present at this meeting.

Mr. Willard P. Grush, Chairman, John F. McCurdy, Edward J. Gildea
and Cornelius P. Cronin of the Board of Assessors arrived at our
meeting at 7:40 P. M. Mr. Grush spoke on their request of $1,000.00
for extra personal service and said an additional clerk in the
department is much needed. Mr. Grush stated that 90% of the tax bills
will be out immediately for collection. The remaining bills will not
be out until late in October 1963. John Blaisdell stated there is a
definite need for more help in the Assessors: Department and we shall
re-valuate the needs of this department. They do need another full
time clerk, Cole-Layer cards are more work. Mr. Grush stated that
when they get the backlog out of the way they can keep up with the
field work. There is to be an additional $350.00 request in their
budget for an Atlas.
There were one hundred and thirty-eight new houses last year - 1962.
Mr. Grush stated that there are sixty cases before the Appellate
Tax Board. This is on farm property.
The Board of Assessors left the meeting at $:45 P. M.
The following requests were taken up:
Board of Assessors' request for a transfer of $1,000.00 from the
Reserve Fund to Assessors' Personal Services account. A motion was
made by John Bevan, seconded by Frank Parrish and voted to transfer
$1,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to Assessors' Personal Services account.
The Board of Selectmen requested the Committee to transfer the
sum of $50.00 from the Reserve Fund to Building Inspector's, Out of
State 'Travel account. A motion was made by John Bevan and voted to
transfer $50.00 from the Reserve Fund.
The Board of Selectmen requested the Appropriation Committee to
transfer the sum of $50.00 from the Reserve Fund to the Trustees of
Public Trusts, Expense account so that the Trustees can register the
coupon bonds held by them. A motion was made by Frank Parrish and
voted to transfer $50.00 from the Reserve Fund to Trustees of Public
Trusts Expense account.
The Chairman received a letter from the Board of Selectmen stating .
that there will be a Special Town Meeting, Monday evening, November 25,
1963.
The Chairman Spoke about ordering our supply of 1964 Budget Estimate
sheets, Expenses and Personal Services. It was approved to order the _
forms.
The Chairman and members agreed to meet next Monday evening,
September 30th at 7:30 P. M.
