The Appropriation Committee met Monday evening January 1L , 1963 at 7:30 P.
M. in the office of the Town Accountant.

Letter received from the Town Celebrations Committee requesting appropriation
for financing the 250th Anniversary Celebration was read by our Chairman.
It was stated that the Capital Expenditures were willing to stand one third
:.-; of the cost for printing the combined annual report fo the Appropriation
Committee and Capital Expenditures.
The Board of Selectmen approved the „3,350.00 over and above Article
which the Celebration Committee requested. Under Article 4 they are asking
$5,000.00 from the Leroy S. Brown fund.
Articles for the special town meeting of January 28, 1963 were next con-
sidered.

Town Celebration Committee requesting $3,350.00 under Article Y5.
Under Article 8 - Committee to make a study of the Historic Districts in
the Town this committee approved $50.00 for expenses to be on the tax levy.
" The chairman of this committee asked Dick Battin about any possible cuts
in the School budgets. Mr. Battin stated that any cuts were left up to
the School Department. Dick stated that the meetings with the School in
themselves were not very beneficial. Frank Douglas and Richard Battin
spoke in general of their meeting with the School Committee.
The chairman stated we had to write two reports this year, one the special
meeting in January, 1963 and the annual town meeting in March, 1963.
Discussion was had reference to putting out Appropriation Committee report
to bid as the Statute re-uires any item, if over 1,000.00 must be put out
for bids.
The chairman spoke in regards to Public Works budgets having one sum for
all personal services.
Weights and Measures - Personal Service budget, Item 29 A was examined.
The proper figure is S1,490.25.
Cary Memorial Library budget - Personal Services, Item 59 A was examined.
Library is opened more hours which accounts for some of the income. The
budget figure tentatively approved by this committee is $110,000. It
was suggested to have the Library trustees meet with us to go over their
budgets.
Veterans Benefits - Personal Service budget, Item 65 A was examined. The
correct figure is ;;2,971 .90 not "3,000.00.

Cemeteries - Personal Service budget, Item 66 A was examined. The correct
figure is $5,472.56.
Town Clerk &, Treasurer, Personal Service budget, Item 2 A was examined.
The figures as submitted are correct, the total being $14,894.68.
Collector of Taxes - Personal Services budget, Item 102 was examined. The
correct figure is $7, 152.40.
The Chairman spoke out.
Chairman spoke about a tentative meeting February 4th, 1963 with the
following
Library Trustees @ ? :30 P. M.
Civil Defense @ 8:30 P. M.
Fire Department @, 9:30 P. M.
Chairman ar''ed whether this committee is in favor of bonding the whole
school site, or make a down payment.
Motion was madeseconded and voted that all members present were in
favor of full bonding on the High School. All members were in favor of
bonding, none opposed.
