Harper Blaisdell, Vice Chairman Maurice F. Shaughnessy Frank E. Douglas John R. Bevan Richard H. Battin C. Roland Christensen Robert H. Kingston Raymond L. White, Secretary Letter from the Board of Selectmen was read requesting the Appropriation Committee to make the following transfers from the Reserve Fund. $1 ,000.00 to the Veterans' Benefits - Aid and Expenses $ 150.00 to the Ambulance maintenance Expenses 't $5,000.00 to the Interest Account The Board discussed these requests for additional funds with the Depart- ment heads involved. John Bevan made a motion that we transfer the total sum of „:6, 150.00 from the Reserve Fund to the above accounts which was seconded by Robert H. Kingston and voted by committee. Logan Clarke has been talking with Bud Fisher of Standing School Building Committee on the school situation - $3,500,000 for bond issue for construction of new addition. $ 75,000.00 for Renovation of caf'eteria in march of 1964 19,000.00 for plans 181,000.00 for alterations in winter of 1964 and spring of 1965 $275,000.00 Letter from Civil Defense was read as to their requests for year 1963, such as Shelter Modification $12,000.00; Town Warning System $42,000.00. Such expenditures are 50% reimburseable from Federal funds. Mr. Blaisdell asked for comments or thought on the salary survey. Several of the members thought the salary schedule went to maximum too quick. The Capital Expenditures Committee entered our meeting at 8: 15 P. m. General discussion was had on the Evan' s salary report. The Capital Expenditures Committee are going to ask $19,000 for design plans only. At 9:00 P. M. o'clock this committee and the Capital Expenditures committee joined the Board of Selectmen meeting in the Selectmen' s room to hear and discuss the Evan' s salary report. Mr. Evans spoke on the salary schedule in general and answered all questions asked. Mr. Evans stated that they chose 3z years for one to reach the maximum. The Capital Expenditures Committee stated that Lexington has a very heavy tax burden. i Finally the chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Alan Adams, asked if the Appropriation Committee would accept the salary report. The members of the Appropriation Committee accepted the salary report as a policy. Board of Selectmen received a request from John J. Carroll Superintendent of Public Works for a transfer from the Reserve Fund of $4,000. 00 for Sewer Services. The Appropriation Committee voted to transfer the sum of 42,000.00 to Sewer Services account from the Reserve Fund. A tentative meeting was made to meet with the Board of Selectmen at 9:00 P.
