HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-07-30-AC-MIN.pdf July 30, 1962 The Appropriation Committee met !Monday evening, July 30, 1962 at 7: 30 P. 1. o' clock in the office of the Town Accountant. Present: Logan Clarke, Jr. Robert Kingston Raymond L. White J. Harper Blaisdell John R. Bevan telephoned the Secretary and said he could not make the meeting tonight and was sorry. Logan Clarke Jr. , Chairman, informed this meeting that the following members had contacted him that they could not attend the meeting. Richard H. Battin, Maurice F. Shaughnessy, Alfred Viano and C. Roland Christensen. The first item taken up was the 1963 Budget Estimate sheets for personal. service and expenses. Some minor changes were made, then approved by members present and the secretary was asked to telep :one Standard Duplicate Sales Company for prices and o ahead and get the forms. Some discussion was had in the master index for the year 19f'2 and 1963. Mr. Blaisdell said the master index was eery good as it was but would be checked to make an, necessary corrections. Logan Clarke spoke in general on the purchase order Problem in the town. A general discussion was had and members present to consider the problem further for discussion at a later date. General discussion was had as to the proper date to close articles for the annual town meeting. It is suggested that the closing date should be January 15th, 1963. At 8:30 P . , i. t'ir. Thomas Grindle member of the Planning ::oard entered the meeting to speak about their requestto this committee "or a transfer of ; 2,500.00 from the Reserve Fund to their account which this committee did not vote on, but decided to lay aside until our next meeting. Grindle stated that they had already scent 1 ,750.00 by the engineers on the road Study. The consultant engineers has submitted tow different plans. Mr . Grindle said they had money and could pay the . 1 ,750.00 if this committee would make a transfer at a later date. ir . Grindle said they would like to be re-imbursed in about 11- months time. Mr. Grindle left our meeting. A general Discussion and suggestions were had on this year ' s appropriation, such as: Compute what we want to spend Article 4 generally is near the same, plus or minus The chairman spoke about different members to be appointed to contact certain departments and go over their budgets then report back to this committee. Maurice i. Shaughnessy spoke to our chairman and said he would like to work with the Fire and Police Departments. 184 Robert H.
