HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-10-30-AC-MIN.pdf 2 October 30, 1961 The Appropriation Committee met Monday evening October 30, 1961 at 7:30 P. M. Present: J. Harper Blaisdell, Chairman Raymond L. White ,Temp Sec. Richard H. Battin Alfred Viana Logan Clarke, Jr. C. Roland Christensen John R. Bevan The Chairman of this Committee informed us that the Civil Defense representatives would not be here tonight because the Chairman, Arthur E. Burrell was out of town and the other two members of that Committee, Messrs. Enders and Roeder were not prepared to speak to our Committee. Mr. Blaisdell stated that the Civil Defense Committee is asking for $60,000 on four articles of the Warrant, Nos. 13 , 14, 15 , and 16. Mr. Blaisdell stated that it was reported that the schools had emergency - power plants, but in investigating it further it was found only the Diamond and Fiske schools had sufficient emergency plants. There was a general discussion on the warning system as to just what the Town was getting for a $40,000 expenditure. We then went over the Articles in the Warrant for the Special Town Meeting of November 6, 1961. Article 2 Supplementary Appropriation to be used by the Standing School Building Committee was approved. 815 ,000 from Middleby School, $15-,000 from E. & D. Article 3 No action, no money involved. Article 4 Fire Department, indefinite. ArticleSelectmen to use available funds. -- Article 6 Edison Way, $13,000 to be transferred from E & D. Article 7 Approved — S100. to be transferred from E & D. Article 8 No money involved. Article 9 Town Way Article 10 No action, no money involved. Article 11 No action, no money involved. . Article 12 No action, no money involved. Article 13 Indefinite postponement Article 14 Approved *500. , to be transferred from E. R. D. Article 15 Indefinite postponement. Article 16 Indefinite postponement. It was decided that this Committee meet on Thursday, November 2nd at 8;00 P. M. and request Mr. Burrell, Director of Civil Defense, be at this meeting to go over their requests. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M. Messrs. Blaisdell, Battin and White then went into the Board of Selectmen's meeting and Mr. Blaisdell told the Board Of Selectmen the action taken on the articles for the Special Town Meeting.
