A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the Committee Room
of Cary MemorialHall on June 3, 1957 at 8 P. M.
Present were :
William Madden, Chairman
Norman Richards Wilfred Dwyer
Edgar Bailey Munroe Hamilton
PaulBuckley A. P. Rowse, Jr.
Mr. Madden reported on the appointments to the Standing School Building
Committee.
A letter from the Selectmen was read in regard to the tentative holding
of Special Town Meeting June 2 ., 1957.

A letter from the Historical Districts Commission in regard to decrease
in requested appropriation.
Discussion of firmer procedures on submission of budgets to allow enough
time to evaluate requests and give proper study for departmental needs;
the return to use of Sub Committees.
Mr. Madden was re-elected Chairman of the Committee.
Mr. Richards was re-elected Vice Chairman of the Committee.
Mr. Palmer was re-elected Secretary of the Committee.
The Fire Department request for the transfer of $600.00 was deferred
until after the meeting with the Commissioner at 7:30 P. M. , Monday,
June 10, 1957.
— It was voted to transfer $1500.00 from the Reserve Fund to Demolition of
Concrete Water Tower Account, as the bid exceeded the estimate by the
Consulting Engineers.
Voted: To defer the transfer requested by the Cemetery Commission until
such time as the need becomes apparant.
Mr. Madden was appointed to the Group Insurance Survey Committee.
Mr. Stevens' request with regard to possible transfer of funds to settle
award in recent case was discussed and action deferred until case is
finally settled. Mr. Palmer' s opinion is that under no circumstance
can any transfer be made from the Reserve Fund as there is no original
appropriation.
Re : Zoning law changes for tentative Town Meeting, it was voted to
meet in Joint session with the Selectmen and Planning Board on Monday,
June 10, 1957 at 8 P. M. , in order to obtain full information concern-
ing the modificatioh.
Adjourned: 10:12 P. M. , to meet again June 10, 1957 at 7:30 P. M. , in the
Committee Room of Cary Memorial Hall.
