HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-01-17-AC-MIN.pdf ' A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held on January 17, 1955 in the Conference R. om, Cary Memorial Building, with the following members present: Gardner Ferguson, Chairman Donald T. Clark John Biggs Leslie C. Read James V. MacDonald William Madden Austin W. FisherJr. Frank D. Walker, Sec. The Board of Fire Commissioners was present when the meeting opened and presented a letter from the Boston Fire Department stating that the present aerial ladder was unsafe and they would not test it . As the Board of Selectmen has thrown out the new aerial ladder, officially it is not under consideration. The School Committee came in at 0800 and we discussed only those items which we do not agree upon. They left at 9:20 and will notify us in writing as to their recommendations . The Appropriation Committee adjourned to the Selectmen's Office where a thorough and lengthy dissitation on the #5 vs #2 oil burner in the library 'took place. We covered most of the budgets relative to the Public Works and others coming within the scope of the Board of Selectmen with which we were in disagreement and where we had not received any official figures. The Planning Board came into the meeting at 11 :00 and discussed their proposal for a parking lot on the westerly side of Massachu- setts Avenue . Meeting adjourned at 11:20 P.M.
