A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the
Conference R.)om, Cary Memorial Building, November 15, 1954 with
the following members present :
Gardner Ferguson, Chairman
Austin W. Fisher, Jr. William Madden �.
Robert Cave Frank D. Walker, Sec.
Letters from the foliowin;7 departments requesting transfers
were read:
Library - 159.00 for temporary help in children's room.
Town Clerk - 36.00 for payment of. clerks .
Voted to transfer as requested above.
Discussion of Annual Report.
At 8:00 P.M. Mr. Alfred Tropeano with his Maple Street School
Building Committee, came into our meeting to discuss Article II
of the November 22nd Special Town Meeting. The figures as
presented by the committee are as follows :
General Contract 560, 220
Site Development 56, 895 ( includes lighting,
Drainage & recreation area)
Architect 's Fees 49, 685
Equipment 50, 000
Contingency 10, 000
Clerkof the Works 5,000
Bidding Fxpense 1, 200

These figures include sewage connection to a contemplated gravity
fed sewer main in Maple Street. If the Maple Street sewer is not
installed it will cost an additional tl2,500 for an ejector and
generator.
The school will be known as the "Harrington School. "
The school building committee recommends the transfer of 133,000
from F. D. and the bonding of 1'700,000 for a period not to exceed
20 years. Committee left at 8:40 P.M.
The Appropriation Committee voted to recommend the construction of
the school on Maple Street and to transfer the sum of ?"33, 000 from
E. & D. and bond 1700,000 f;-or a period not exceeding 20 years. Under
Article III the Approp. Comm. recommends the appropriation of X5, 000,
this sum to be transferred from F. D.
Meeting adjourned at 9 :25 P.M. Next meeting Nov. 22, 1954 at 7: 30
prior to Town Meeting and immediately followinL the Town Meeting the
budget books will be available with whatever budgets have been
received.
