Ferguson, Cnairman Austin Fisher Jr. Thomas Donnelly Jr. Robert R. Cave James V. MacDonald John Biggs Leslie C. Reed William Madden Donald T. Clark Frank D. Walker, Sec. A policy of "Hold the line" was decided upon as far as the tax rate is concerned. It was requested that the sub-committees have very detailed inform- ation relative to their respective committees and report to the main committees so that preliminary suggestions may be made to committees or departments as to the actual amount for appropriation when final meeting is held; also writing part of report relative to their scope of observation. Car Allowances : Gardner has fulfilled agreement to bring up. ( One dissenter) The Long Range Planning Committee met at 8:20 and discussed the Plan- ning Board, Recreation Committee, School Committee and Police Depart- ment. Police Dept. Request 8180,000 for a new Police Station. School Dept. ( 1954 - Maple St. - 16 rooms 725,000 ) 1955 - High School Auditorium, Shop ( 14 classrooms 875,000 Subj . to ) 1956 - Franklin School Addition possible adj .( 8 classrooms 325,000 ) 1957 - Renovation present Junior ( High School 200, 000( Prof. ) 1958 - New Junior High School 300,000) Survey 1959 - New Elem. School Committee - 10:10 p.m. Warrant November 22, 1954. Problems : 1. Need 13 classrooms by fall of 1956. Maple St. - 16 rooms - estimated cost 730,000 2. X5,000 for complete preliminary plans and spec- ifications for 14 classroom wing on the New High School. 3. Junior High School problem - outside aid to in- vestigate. Discussion of High School at the March town meeting to have ready by the fall of 1956, Auditorium, Shop and 14 classrooms which will have capacity of 12-1300. By-law to establish Long Range Planning Committee. Meeting adjourned at 11: 20 p.m. No meeting November 8th. Next meeting November 15, 1954 - 7:30 p.m. Agenda: Maria Hastings School Bldg.
