HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-10-25-AC-MIN.pdf 0 1 1. A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held on October 25, 1954 with the following members present: Gardner Ferguson, Chairman Austin W. Fisher Jr. William Madden John Biggs Frank D. Walker, Sec. Discussion on revised edition of report until 9 p.m. when adjourned to the Selectmen' s Office. The Selectmen were given a copy of our revised report and at the meeting there was only favorable comments. They thought they would be willing to adjust their votes to fit in with our plans on the revision. The Selectmen then brought us up to date on the proposed capital items for the next year which was not firmed up or had not been voted on by the Board of Selectmen: Miscellaneous - Parking Area in rear of Savings Bank and other buildings. No estimate as to cost. Street ( Betterment) Construction: Bertwell, Bridge, Fuller, Arcola, Pearl Brandon. Sewer ( Betterment) Construction: Hayes Ave. , Oxford, Shade, Sherburn, Arcola. Rough estimate of 0175,000 given for betterment street and sewer construction. The street between Bedford and Massachusetts Ave. is contemplated but not definite. Sidewalk Construction: School Street - land taking 8' -6' sidewalk, 2' road widening. Waltham Street - For Franklin School Curring Construction - Usual Street Construction ( no betterments contemplated) Water Mains - To strengthen system: Waltham St. (Parrett Rd. - Concord Ave. ) 65,000 Concord Ave. Cutler Farm Ave. to Pleasant 6.,000 Trunk Line Sewers : Mr. Batemen stated it could cost the town an estimated 10,000,000 in the next few years for sewers as some of the situations were getting worse. The Selectmen outlined a new trunk line which would be gravity fed to present pumping station. Estimated cost X750,000.
