A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the office
of the Town Accountant on Monday evening, January 26th with the follow-
ing members in attendance:
Leon W. Bateman, Chairman
Raymond W. James Ralph H. Tucker
A. W. Cleveland Leslie C. Read
James V. Macdonald Thomas J. Donnelly, Jr.
Gardner C. Ferguson William Madden
Frank D. Walker, Secretary
The minutes of the meeting held January 19th were presented and
approved.
Per advice from the Division of Accounts the balance available
from the Excess & Deficiency Account is 009,000.
The Cemetery appropriations may be combined.
It is voted not to go along with the School Com.' ittee on a general
raise if they ask for one .
It was voted to establish a policy relative to clerks salaries :

St. Clerk A42 A46 Aj.8
Voted "where nearest advance step on schedule provides for less
than 11 weekly increase, the next higher step on schedule will be used.
Went through and indicated the amounts desired to be paid on clerks.
Grant Cole, Civil Defense administrator came in and explained to the
Committee his budget requests.
The meeting adjourned at 10:50 P.M.
The next regular meeting will be held Monday evening, February 2,
1953.

FIRE DEPARTMENT WORK SCHEDULE
Work 4. 10-hour days - on fourth day leave at 6:00 P.M. off next
day 24 hours - next day 24 hours off - next day go in at 6:00 P.M.
and work until 8:00 A.M. for four days, then after fourth night 2I
hours off then start at 8:00 A.M.
Example:
Monday 8 :00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday 6:00 P.M. to Mon 8 :00 A.M.
T Tues 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday 6:00 P.M. to Tue 8:00 A.M.
Wed. 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Tues . 6 :00 P.M. to Wed 8 :00 A.M.
Thurs. 8 :00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Wed. 6:00 P.M. to Thu 8:00 A.M.
off Griday & Saturday start new cycle Friday 8:00
