HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-05-07-AC-MIN.pdf MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE 77 APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE HELD ON May 7, 1951 May 8, 1951 A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the office of the Town Accountant Monday evening, May 7, , 1(1)51 withthe following members in attendance: Howard A. Patterson, Chairman Ralph H. Tucker John J. Sullivan A. W. Cleveland Leon W. Bateman Clarence E. Smith Thomas J. Donnelly, Jr. Frank D. Walker, Consultant The meeting was called to order at 8 :00 by Chairman Howard A. Patterson. The minutes of the meeting held on March 17, 1951 were presented and approved. The following nominations were made: Leon W. Bateman Chairman Clarence E. Smith Co. Vice Chairman Ralph H. Tucker Co. Vice Chairman Ethel U. Rich Acting Secretary The Secretary cast one ballot for the above officials and they were so elected. The Committees to work on the various departments will be assigned at the next regular meeting. It was voted to engage the services of Prank D. Walker as Consultant for the year 1951-52 under the same monetary arrangements as last year. The following letter was received from the Town Clerk: "Howard. A. Patterson, Chairman Appropriation Committee Lexington 73, Massachusetts Dear Howard : Because of the condition of certain record books, namely births, marriages, and deaths, which cannot be rebound, it is necessary for me to recopy the records . Therefore, I am asking for a transfer of 8150.00 to cover the cost of 300 sheets for birth records, 300 sheets for death records, and 300 sheets for marriage records, which can be obtained at the rate of 810.00 per hundred, also, three binders at 812.00 each. Very truly yours , Jim Carroll /s James J. Carroll JJC/mjr Town Clerk " It was voted to send the following letter to the Town Clerk: "Mr. James J. Carroll Town Clerk - Treasurer Town Office Building Lexington 73, Massachusetts Dear Mr. Carroll: At a meeting of the Appropriation Committee held Monday evening, May 7, 1951 it was voted to acknowledge receipt of your letter requesting a transfer of 8150.00. It was also voted to ask you to appear before the Committee at our next regular meeting, the date of which you will be advised, and explain the various methods you would recommend for change in your records. Patterson their deep appreciation of the time, effort and wonderful work he did as past Chairman. A letter received from William M. Hall was read as follows: "Mr. Donald E. Nickerson Chairman, Board of Selectmen Town of Lexington Dear Sir: I regretfully tender my resignation as a member 79 of the Appropriation Committee of the Town of Lexington. I have appreciated the opportunity to serve the town on this committee for the past few years, but personal reasons make my resignation advisable at this time. Very sincerely yours, Wm. M. Hall /s It is with deep regret we accept Mr. Halls resig- nnation and the Committee wish to express sincere appreciation for his past services . The next meeting will be called by Chairman Leon W.
