Dear Mr. Emery:
Confirming my telephone conversation of today, I wish
to advise that the appropriation for Water Service for the
year 1949 has been all used with the exception of approxi-
mately five dollars.
Indications are that we will need another $1,000. in
this account for the year 1949.
It would be appreciated if this amount could be trans-
ferred as soon as possible from the Emergency found.
Thanking y ou, I am
Yours very truly,
JOSEPH H. DEFOE/S
cc Appropriation Committee Supt. of Public Works. "
"Mr. Howard A. Patterson December 7, 1949
Chairman, Appropriation Committee
Lexington 73, Massachusetts
Dear Howard:
The Board of Selectmen respectfully request a
transfer of $1,000. from the Reserve Fund to Water Services.
It is our understanding that this account is already in the
red by $200. or $300. and we still have a few water services
which are urgently needed.
If it would be possiole for the Appropriation
Committee to be ballotted by 'phone immediately on this matter
it would presumably make it possible for the water service work
to be continued without any interruption.
Very truly yours,
GEO R GE EMERY/S
Chairman, Selectmen."
