MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE HELD
October 31, 1949 at 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Howard A. Patterson,
in the mown Accountant' s Office with the following; members in atten-
dance:
A. W. Cleveland Clarence Smith
Leon Bateman Emile Vadeboncoeur
Tom Donnelly
Frank D. 'Walker - Secretary
The minutes of the meeting held. October 17, 1949 were accepted
and approved.
Leon Bateman gave report on radio system: Motorola - Link -
Harvey Radio (R. C.A. is now 10 years old and is in old line. )
Chief Rycroft cane in to the meeting at 7:45 P.M. to discuss
Article 10 (New Radio) . Left at 0:25 P.M.
Letter was received from Selectmen, which follows :
"Mr. Howard A. Patterson October 25, 1949
Chairman, Appropriation Committee
Lexington 73, Massachusetts U
• Re : Law Department - Special Fees Account
Dear Mr. Patterson:
The Board of Selectmen voted last evening to request the
Appropriation Committee to transfer the spam of 1,000. from
the Reserve Fund to the above account.
At the present time there is a balance of 0175. Bills have
been received on the Harmon case, Chiesa claim and the hearings
on the removal of gatew at the Hancock Street Railroad crossing
which total 0675.00. As yet no bill has been presented by the
Town Counsel on the Morey case, but it is expected that this
maybe in the vicinity of X500.

It was voted to transfer 01,000. from Reserve Fund to the Law
Department - Special Fees. By letter expressed idea to the Board of U
Selectmen that a flat fee be established for Town Counsel.
It was voted to transfer 011.79 from Reserve Fend to Assessors' .
Personal Services.

A joint meeting with the Selectmen was held from 8:40 until
9:50 relative to W grant of Special Town Meeting, November 14, 1949.
It was voted to ask the Selectmen to hold executive sessions
- whenever the two committees meet.
L___ After returning to the Town Accountant' s office discussions
• followed on each article of the warrant.
It was voted to ask the School Committee to attend our meeting
of November 7, 1949.
The meeting adjourned at 11 :15 P.M.
