Gustin November 22, 1949 Chairman Recreation Committee Lexington, Mass . The Appropriation Committee very definitely appreciate the need for some means of protecting the surface of the tennis courts at East Lexington but we further feel as though the need for a new fence must hare been known by your Board when you requested the resurfacing of the courts to be done and that at this time the fence is not an emergency and we cannot transfer for this project. The Town Meeting m embers should vote upon this in your Capital Outlay budget. Very truly yours, Secretary" Copies of letters received by Hoard of Selectmen from Board of Fire Engineers have been placed on file. It was voted the contemplated purchase of a KVA by Board of Fire Engineers was none of our business . The Committee recognize the value of their program and suggest they do this out of their own budget. 1 132) The following letter was sent to Chairman George W. Emery of the Board of Selectmen: i ► "George W. Emery, Chairman November 22, 1949 Board of Selectmen Lexington, Mass. Dear Mr. Emery: Reference two letters from Board of Fire Engineers K.V.A. Generator The Appropriation Committee, under Section 7, of Article 6, has no jurisdiction but they appreciate your asking them for their opinion which is as follows: If in the opinion of the '30ard of Fire Engineers the generator is in good running condition there is no question but that the price of 090. is a most reason- &ble figure. That if they have no further use for the cable in question and in their opinion the turn in price of 000. is a fair one, we believe they would be wise to accept it at this time and amply it on the purchase of the generator. Painting Poles: The Appr-priation Committee does not believe this to be an emergency. They recognize the value of this program and wonder if the department itself might not outline and proceed with their own men in a long range program of covering the Town in a mar:ner satisfactory to their department.
