Minutes of meeting held on January 10, 1972 - page 2
The Chairman presented the Pro Forma, prepared by Comptroller
Perry. The increase in requests by General Articles, the School
budget and General Government is about $1,546,647, as of this date.
This would project a tax rate of between $68. and $69 .80.
The next meeting night is scheduled on Monday, January 17, 1972,
to meet with the Capital Expenditures Committee.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 P.M.

The Appropriation-Committee held a meeting at 7:30 P.M., on Monday,
January 17, 1972, in Room 111, Town Office Building, Lexington.
Present were Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Jack L. Mitchell, Vice
Chairman, Elizabeth M. Flynn, Secretary, Arthur T. Bernier, J. H.
Blaisdell, Levi G. Burnell, Howard L. Levingston, H. B. Moore,
Donald B. White and Richard M. Perry Comptroller.
S . Byrnes, a town meeting member, Mrs. Sanderson, a citizen and
Mrs. Feakes of the League of Women Voters observed the meeting.
With reference to a letter received from Kingston Howard, Chairman
of the Bicentennial Committee, the Chairman will invite the Com-
mittee to meet with us to discuss their fund raising plans for 1975.
Chairman Furash proposed the following schedule:
1. January 24th, January 31st, February 7th, regular
Monday meetings
2. February 12th, Saturday meeting
3. February 14th, a Monday, and February 16th, a Wednes-
day, regular meetings, as necessary
L . Report to printers by February 18th.
5. March 6th, Elections
6. March 20th, first session of Town Meeting

The Chairman, also, advised the Committee that the Mass . Associa-
tion of Finance Comittee' s dinner will be held on February 2, 1972,
at The Diplomat in Saugus. Members interested in attending, should
inform R. Perry.
At 8:35 P.M., members J. Cogan, L. Whitman, 4. Daily and G. Silver-
man of the Capital Expenditures Committee joined the meeting.
Discussion was held with respect to the Capital Budget. C . E' s
recommendations are as follows:
RECREATION: $24,000. general
20,000. Lincoln St. development
FIRE : $70,500. $57,000.-pumping engine
7,500.-over-all plans for
Dept. and station
6,000.-emergency generator
CONSERVATION: 200,000. this includes all land acquis .
LIBRARY: 28,000. detailed preliminary plans for
expansion and addition
DPW: 950,000. $650,000. - sewers
28,000. - water mains and
Calgon vaults
36,000. - drains
10,000. - street design
59,000. - Chapter 90
5,000. - curbs
75,000. - sidewalks
85,000. - equipment
street construction

C . E. sees about $1,292,000. , non bonded, with about $186,000.

Rep. Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. joined the meeting briefly.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, Executive Session, was VOTED
at 10:10 P.M.
Board of Selectmen Chairman R. Cataldo and members A. Kenney and
A . Busa joined the meeting.
The Capital Budget was discussed briefly. Chairman Cataldo
advised that they will review the Personal Service budgets this
week and the General Articles, of which there are 102.

Copies of the Articles will be mailed to the Appropriation Com-
mitee during this week.
The next meeting night is scheduled on Monday, January 2L1 , 1972,
at 7:30 P.M. Meeting will be held with the Board of Selectmen,
at 8:00 P.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:3; P.M.
