The Appropriations Committee held a meeting at 7:30 P.M., on Thursday,
February 5, 1970, in the Comptroller' s Office, Town Office Building,
Lexington. Members present were Edward E. Furash, Vice Chairman, who
chaired the meeting, Elizabeth M. Flynn, Secretary, Richard M. Perry,
Comptroller, Jack L. Mitchell and Donald B. White .

At approximately 9:15 P.N. Selectmen Chairman Cataldo and Town Manager
O'Connell joined the meeting. With respect to the TAX RATE, Chairman Pro
Tempore Furash stated that as of now $64.30 was anticipated, but that
with all money Articles on the Warrant, Appropriations was attempting
to keep to $65.00.
With respect to Acct. #5500 - Snow Removal - it was decided to remain
with the approval of 1/12/70 of $110,000. for the Expense budget, but
to attempt to hold to the overtime of $70,000. requested in the DPW
L221.1—414.222 - Personal Services.
Chairman Cataldo stated that in discussion with the Union negotiator
that a proposal of 66 2/3 commitment by the Town for Blue Cross and
Blue Shield was taken under advisement by the Union. Appropriation
Committee suggestion of a 6/ cost of living increase was turned down
by the Union, but, possibly a 7'4 increase would be accepted. If there
is no agreement, the increase could go to a referendum.
The next meeting night is scheduled for Monday, February 9, 1970.
At 7:45 P.M. pictures of the Committee will be taken for the Town Report.
Meeting will be held at 8:00 P.M. in the Comptroller's Office with
Dr. Cosgrove of the Health Department, with the Capital Expenditures
Committee at 8:30 P.M. and with the Board of Selectmen at 9:00 P.M. in
the Selectmen ' s Room. The Selectmen will present the M schedule at
this time .
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
