at 7:45 P.M., in the Comptroller' s Office, Town Office Building .
Members present: R. Gary, Chairman; J. Blaisdell; L. Burnell;
F. Furash; J. Mitchell; H. B. Moore; D. White;
L. Zehner, E. Flynn
The Chairman advised that 5 bids had been received for the Junior High
School and that the Permanent Building Committee was recommending that
the low bid of $5,515,000. be accepted. There was a spread of 8650,000.
between the low and high bid. The Chairman also advised that the Select-
men and Mr. Douglass had agreed verbally on a price of $55,000. and that
it was hoped that an option would be had by the time of Town Meeting .
�.� Meeting was held at 8:00 P.M. with Robert Cataldo, Chairman of the Board
1.0 of Selectmen and John McSweeney, Town Engineer. Discussion was held as
+.-a to the proposed new addition to the Town Office Building. Preliminary
scale drawings of the addition and the interior renovation of the Police
Building and its addition of a new garage were presented. R. Cataldo
advised that $750,000., of which 5100,000. would be applied to the Police
Building, would be needed. The criteria of 100 Square feet per desk space
and 320 Square feet per office was used in anticipation of a future town
population of 45,000 in approximately 15 years. Of the $8,000. approved
at the Town Meeting in March $5,000. has been spent and the balance of
83,000. plus the 940,000. requested at the June Town Meeting will be
applied to the drawing up of final specifications. The question of a
separate section of the new addition for Civil Defense purposes to secure
Federal funds was discussed but was not generally approved. R. Cataldo
stated that no new departments have been added but that room for expan-
sion was built into the plans .
R. Cataldo questionned progress on an appointment and recommendations for
the Salary Study Committee . R. Gary expressed his feeling that a member
of the Appropriation Committee did not properly belong on this Committee .
E. Furash will complete his draft of the strurture of the Salary Study
Committee and present it to the Selectmen for review. The meeting with
Mr. Cataldo and Mr. McSweeney was closed at 9:20 P.M.

Article 1 - Committee Reports - No recommendation
Article 2 - Favorable action - junior High School - $5,515,000.

Article 9 - Indefinite postponement - By-Law
Article 10 - Unfavorable action - Regional Refuse, Disposal - $7,000.
Projections:
If passed by Town Meeting: Article 3 $ 40,000.
Article 4 10,000.
Article 6 55,000.

The tax rate will probably not be set by the time of the Special Town
Meeting. Assessor Grush will set rate on 959 of what is set to go.
Cherry Sheet not received as of now.
The next meeting night is scheduled for Jun. 2, 1969, at 7 :30 P.M.,
in the Conference Room, Cary Memorial Hall.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:40 P.M.
