Dick Blomfield reported that an appropriation of $200 will be requested for a study committee to look into the advisability of recommending that Lexington join several towns (possibly Concord, Lincoln, Weston, Belmont, Sudbury, Arlington) for the purpose of having a Regional Technical Vocational School. An informal study committee has been working on this proposal. The advantages are: construction costs are at least 50% reimbursed by state. operating costs for first 5 years are paid for almost 100% Lexington's share would be proportional to the number of students enrolled in the vocational school - The initial construction cost is prorated on the number of students in the town (public and private school students) in grades 9 thru 12. Questionnaire last May indicated that 8% of Lexington H.S. students had a career interest in vocational education (17.5% had a course interest) Civil Defense Advisory Committee - Appropriation Committee appointee is Don White.
