Souza James Grant, Cemetery Commissioner; Mrs. Healy, Cemetery Clerk Cemetery Budget #7350, discussed Request that clerk be full-time and move from grade 3 to grade 9 Increased burials, wish to keep office open 8:30 to 4:30, she must also attend meetings of Cemetery Commissioners. Mr. Grant stated that, when we had a part-time superintendent, he kept Westfiew in order and soldi lots. Now Mrs. Healey takes people out and interprets the maps for them; they wish to have people come to the office to get correct information since there is noone at the Cemetery who is capable of giving correct information. Overtime - $3000 asked for last year, $1500 granted, $1000 spent Backhoe was delivered June 26. ,--� Saturday burials increased from 26 in 1966 to 32 in 1967. To get through the year, theyput men to work in the woods where expansion is planned and split payroll between capital and operating outlay. This work is usually done in February or March, but is not often charged against capital outlay. Two men requested - to continue development of backland. Burials - 1965 1966 1967 173 182 200 Westview 17 Munroe Development is needed. There areenough graves for five years on the left side, enough for only two years on the right side. Therefore must develop the back land Charges $70 per single 35 for opening. $25 additional chatged for Saturday burial. Appropriation Committee requested that Commissioners compare fees with other cemeteries and let us know what they decide to do about fees. Uniforms - They are now providing a uniform, rented and laundered, for all men because they thought the men in workclothes looked too shabby at funerals. They used to buy uniforms, but these woreout in 1960. Committee suggested the purchase of several suits of coveralls which could be kept in the building at the cemetery and put on for funerals. Police protection for Yeirorial Day - worked well Truck, 1961 model, willneed replacement soon. Possibility of trading with PAID. Recommendations Appropriation Committee decided to recommend that ars. Healey work full time at grade S3F #4350 approved at $44,801 to which will be added $5000 from Perpetual Care. Two additional laborers not approved. Public Works Department budgets discussed with Al Grey #5450 $56,050 will be requested if shovel dozer is bought at cost of $25,000 (needs $12,000 repairs) Sewers $170,000 of Selectmen's trunk sewer fund has been spent. Sidewalks - no figure available yet Lloyd land - $60,000 - 65,000 to be requested. Ownerx wants $96,000 Road Machinery - all items are replacements except skybucket #1760 $6000 approved #2000 $4,147 approved. Census checked on combining school with Town census. Dick Perry and High School teacher in charge of school census both recommend dual censuses for first year, then when we have ironed out wrinkles, a single census. School man thought it would cost about $2,000 to $3,000 not including cards and supplies.
