Veterans Aid and Expenses: Committee approved a transfer of $1325
from the reserve Fund in case the Trustees of Public Trusts cannot
make tills amount available.
Salary Committee finds that Arlington and '.Waltham are competitors
fax of Lexington. For Si and S3 positions, trey are paying higher
salaries. AI Grey proposes that we raise S12 from $4257 to $4500,
and a3 from $4600 to $5175. We are having trouble get-Ang employees.
The difference between grades would be maintained. For example
the difference between S5 and S4 is $200; this would be maintained.
This would result in a smaller percentage increase in the higher
grades. Step increase plus increase in salary scale would be about
10% increase. Police salaries have not been decided.
Health budgets discussed with Rufus IicQuillan
He requests tnat the Clerk's title be changed to Agent and t:.t
she go from S7 to S12.Because she acts as agent, the Director can
function as inspector. 'Without her, we would heed a Director and
an inspector.
Expenses
Car expenses, maintenance and gas, are estimated to cost $600.
Paying for mileage last year cost the Town $400. Committee questions
whether having the Town provide a car instead of paying for mileage
is going to save money. The $600 is just an estimate; the car
which the Health Dept. now has was received r few months ago.
Cost of lab service has doubled for each test.
Budget for Doctors and Nurses has increased because there are more
clinics and more children coming to clinic.
;We now have one TB patient 314 per day; this expense is expected
to continue for about 90 days.
Receipts total $740.50
