Appropriation Committee Meeting, January 25, 1966
Meeting was called to order by temporary Chairman Clarke at 7:45 p.m.
Budget Discussion: #4300 — Civil Defense — motion passed to cut
$3,142 from Personal Services; expense budget to be further discussed
with Mr. Burrell.
8:10 p.m. — visit with Recreation Committee: Messrs. Bertini, Hayes,
and Kelly; question on expanded program for retarded children
(enrolment has increased from 20 to 28 children and they are bringing
pro, ram more in line with that offered other children) — Discussion
of future plans for major playground next to Harrington School -- Mr.
�..{ Noyes suggests possibility of exploring comparative municipal recreation
117) costs to accompany future budget requests -- General discussion on
+—� future capital expenses of recreation -- Recreation Budgets approved
as submitted.
Mr. Parrish informs that the School Committee will return $186,166 to
Town as follows: $23,406 from Title 3, $22,885 from Title 5, and
$139,886 from P.L. 874.
9:45 p.m. Meeting with Board of Selectmen -- $1,000 salary for Guide
Director accepted -- Salary of Planning Director to be further
reviewed -- general discussion on Police Department and necessity of
new police officers.
Meeting adjourned at 10:45 p.m. — Present were Messrs. Parrish,
Kenney, Gary, Clarke, Noyes, Zehner and Mrs. Souza.
The latter partof the evening was audited by Mrs. Frank Tatman of TMMA.
