The Appropriation Committee met on Monday evening, May 24th 1965
at 7:45 :P. M.
Present: J. Harper Blaisdell, Chairman
Oscar R. Carlson Frank T. Parrish Jr.
Robert M. Gary Donald P. Noyes
Logan Clarke Jr. Allan 1. Kenney
Louis A. Zehner Raymond L. White, Secretary
Messrs Allan T. Kenney and Louis A. Zehner are the two members to
the committee, Mr. Kenney was_ preseut.
The meeting was called to order at 7:50 P. M. and the first business
to come before this meeting was the election of a chairman. A motion was
U made, seconded and voted Frank T. Parrish Jr. chairman. The Chairman to
U have who 'Ike he names; to fill the vacancy when chairman is not able to
attend. Ray White was elected secretary for the ensuing term.
Information for Appropriation Committee members. The paper work
will get to the members before the night of the meeting.
On postal cards sent to members, information of items coming up
to be on the card.
10:30 P. M. late enough for all meetings.
Meetings to start at 7:45 P. M. Mail all information out tO members
ndt- later. 'than'friday: night, so thatt embers will receive them before
Monday night.
Fireman Gourdeau has six young children. Insist that the Fire
Commissioner get better examinations, a more complete examination.': Demand
that a proper physicial examination be had for fire and police personnel.
Mr. Gray entered our meeting at $:40 P. M. and spoke in general on
a uniform purchase order system and hope later to have a centralize purchase
order system.
Mr. Gray stated that the Assessors will need Burroughs accounting
machine for a period of six to seven weeks.
Machine problem probably will be two years before we get things
straighten out.
Request $150.00 from Reserve Fund to Inspection Department, Personal
Service.Substituton was necessary for John Byrne, who was laid up with
pneumonia. A motion was made, seconded and voted a transfer of $150.00
from the Reserve Fund to Inspection Department Personal Service Account.
Board of Selectmen request $7$3.50 from the Reserve Fund to Cary
Memorial Library - Expenses for overhead wires to complete automatic
fire alarm system to Library which has never been completed. A motion
. was made, seconded and voted to transfer $7$3.50 from Reserve Fund to
Library - Expense account.

Board of Selectmen request $160.00 from the Reserve Fund to Selectmen
Expenses account for purchase order forms. A motion was made, seconded
and voted to transfer $160.00 .
Board of Selectmen request $600.00 from the Reserve Fund to
Accounting Department Expenses for the renting of Burroughs machine
while assessors are using their machine. A motion was made, seconded
and voted to transfer $600.00 from the Reserve Fund.
Mr. York looking into implication system for Cary Memorial Hall.
The firealarm system was asked to be reconsidered and the final
vote was two to one vote.
The Cary Memorial Hall public address system was again considered,
but not approved.
Police Department was discussed in general and it was decidedAo
get more patrol cars on the road. Mr. Gray - Fire Department, Police
and Selectmen are considering what can be done, such as; tie into Mutual
Aid, State and Town . Also to have more 'Alice on duty, have a civilian
on desk in police Department giving an additional policeman on duty.
Also it was stated that the Trustee of Public Trust can take
$5,000.00 out of the fund each year instead of $4,000.00.
Article #3 - Acquire land for school, playground and other public
purposed a parcel of land off Marrett Road. Site, $3,500.00 an acre.'.'_
Vote $70,000 from Conservation Fund for this purpose.
Lincoln Cole, Selectmen entered our meeting to speak on loud
speaking system. This committee voted against this article.
Article#4 - Take by emenent domain 22,000 sq ft. taken from
Worthern Road, 1,300.00 by transfer from Conservation Fund. This Committee
approved authorization of 1,300.00.
Article #5 - Purchase of Adams Street property. Voted down
previously Emerson Road, Article #73 in Warrant Defeated 101 to 55
previouly. Planning Board is in favor.

#15--Ammend general by - Laws. No recommendation
A suggestion by our chairman is to have contacts.. with other Town
Committees, so that we will Know what is going on. Logan Clarke would
like to deal with the Police and Fire Department. Public Work - one
person, Sdiool Department two persons and Civil Defense - one person.
Adjourned at 10:30 P. M. and our next meeting to be Junell, 1965 _
at 7:45 P. M.
