T.M.M.A. request for opinion on necessity of By-Law stipulating deadline for Appropriation Report prior to Town Meetings - Consensus of Committee that By-Law not necessary at this time. B. Discussion of Salary Policy and also the quality and timing r-i of the Town Report, improvement needed here. Letter from Mr. Gray re: salary of Welfare Director - no increase this year. Visit by Mr. York re: audio system for Cary Hall - it was suggested that Mr. Carroll include this item in 1966 expenses budget of Cary Bldg. Inspection of various budget requests; some approved; others postponed pending questions of Selectmen and/or Town Clerk. Discussion of "Out of State Travel" expense policy; various ideas put forth - decision postponed pending compilation of items and report at next meeting by Mr. Carlson. Visit by Mr. Gray - informed Committee of Selectmen's action on remainder of budget and the Article expense items. Meeting adjourned at 11 p.m. Present were Messrs. Parrish, Carlson, Kenney, Gary, Clarke, Noyes, 'Lehner and Mrs. Souza. Respectfully submitted, Allan F. Kenney, acting secretary The Appropriation Committee met on Monday evening, January 18, 1965 in the office of the Town Accountant. Present: J. Harper Blaisdell Rank T. Parrish, Jr. Mrs. Richard W. Souza Richard H. Battin Robert M. Gary Raymond L. White, Sec. Oscar Carlson telephoned that he would not be present as he was home sick with a virus. • Mr. Blaisdell stated that the Boardof Selectmen had a meeting last Saturday morning in regards to salaries. They are proposing a sixth step to Evans' salary report of 5%. Longevity of 3% of base. There was a general discussion in regards to Moreland school site, I whether it be Moreland Ave. , or Pleasant Street. The remainder of the evening was spent on general discussion, such as: Capital Expenditures last year was 1,270,000. The Board of Selectmen recommending a $60,000 increase in salaries. Uncollected taxes for the year $164,000. The School Dept. are turning back $185,000 this year. The Public Works budgets have a lot of overtime.
