Blaisdell, r-, Secretary, Peter Hall, Vice Chairman-Gen. Gov't. , c:. Mitzi Kutchin, Patricia Hagedorn, Howard L. Levingston, Richard M. Perry, Comptroller, Ex-Officio I . RECREATION Mr. Busa, Chairman of the Committee made the following points: a. It was so stated by Mr. Busa that the Committee did not have their full report to present to the Appropriation Committee and Capital Expenditures Committee. b. We merely want a sense of feeling given to us from the Appropriation Committee as to how far we can go with our Articles, Mr. Busa stated. c. A copy of the proposed Articles was presented to the Committee. (attached) d. Pool is main priority. e. Permanent Building Committee appropriated $7 ,000 to under- take feasibility study to see whether or not this complex can be situated on present site. f. $60,000 requested for architectural designs for the site - Phase I to be ready by March 1, 1977. g. There will be a 2nd Article for a smaller amount if this site is not suitable. h. Mr. Busa stated he would like support from the Appropriation Committee and Capital Expenditures Committee on the floor of Town Meeting. i. Mr. White stated that the Appropriation Committee could not at this meeting give a definite number. j . Mr. Silverman stated that in the past recreation has had the support of both Committees: k. Mr. White stated that "yes" , we must support recreation and the study, however it all depends on the financial status of the town and what it can afford. "I do not think you should pull out all the Articles" Mr. White stated. II . TOWN REPORT Mr. Perry reported two bids so far re the above subject: 1. $48.00 - Lexington Press (per page) 2. $49.10 - Spaulding Mr. Blaisdell suggested that we look into an 8-x11 size page. Mr. Perry will report back on this. 262 III . SCHOOL CLOSINGS a. Starting '77 & '78 closing Hancock at a savings of $130,000. b. In '78 will be Parker - savings of $160,000 In '?9 will be Monroe - " $121,000 In '80 will be Muzzey - " $260,000 c. $835,000 over 5 year period. d. These closings will keep school budget at a minimum. e. Hancock will be returned to the town. IV . MINUTEMAN VOCATIONAL HIGHSCHOOL a. Budget was approved - $4,623,987. b. Up 45% from last year. c. Adding 45 people to school teaching staff. V . EXPENSE BUDGETS The Appropriation Committee reviewed expense budgets with Board of Selectmen. Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
