White , Vice Chairman-Schools, Peter Hall, Vice Chairman, General Government, John Campbell, Martin Gilman, Howard L. Levingston, Mitzi Kutchin, Richard M. Perry, Comptroller, Ex-Officio I . CABLE TV Present: Bill Page Howard Cravis The following points were covered: a. Public ownership is the most appropriate for Lexington use - town could have better control this way. b. Presently, there is no pressure from outside, so the Town has some time - however within the next three years this situation could change. Therefore , it is recommended by the Cable Committee to use this time for further detailing the best possible options to take. c. The Cable Committee will report back to the Selectmen in 5 months on further progress. d. Mr. Page asked the Chairman to have a representative from the Appropriation Committee to oversee financial implications. Chairman Furash stated that this request could not be granted due to the ways the by-laws are set-up. The Chairman urged Mr. Page to ask the Selectmen to appoint someone with a financial background to serve on this Committee. e. Capital investment 21 years ago - 21 mil -- $100,000 for equipment, $100,000 annual expense. II . COMPTROLLER The Committee welcomed back Mr. Richard Perry. A letter to Mr. Perry from the Chairman of the Appropriation Committee was sent bn behalf of the Committee. (attached) III . MINUTEMAN REGIONAL VOCATIONAL HIGHSCHOOL Present: Ron Fitzgerald Charles Cartwright-Acton a. Present figures are to be changed. b. 1,005 students presently 1,330 expected next year 258 III . MINUTEMAN (Continued) c. Afternoon program has been done away with. d. Don White complimented Mr. Fitzgerald on all the documents presented to the committee. (on file) e. Vandelism is now very low. f. Fire protection - Lexington Police protection - Lexington and Lincoln g. Chairman Furash asked Mr. Fitzgerald when he could see some stabalization and he said "you have it now - that is a promise" . "You will see a very stable budget next year! " IV. PERSONNEL BOARD - BOARD OF SELECTMEN Areas to be discussed at meeting to be held on January 4, 1977 = a. Economic problems for next year. We are not going to have any excess money to reduce tax rate. b. School budget. c. Expense budget. d. Tax Rate - $10. 20 projected, f�o next year. e. CETA people on the payroll. Chairman Furash stated he was very upset about the amount of people still on the payroll. f. The Chairman requested the Town Manager to see the budget material as early as possible so the Committee does not have to make a decision overnight. Meeting adjourned at 10:50 P.M.
