APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE
DATE: February 17, 1976
TIME: 7:30 P.M.
PLACE: Town Office Bldg. Room 111
PRESENT: Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Donald B. White, Vice-Chairman,
Schools, Martin Gilman, J.H. Blaisdell, Patricia Hagedorn,
Howard L. Levingston, John Campbell, Peter Hall, Richard
M. Perry, Secretary

a) Chairman Furash stated he would not recommend this 75/25.
b) Cost increase is very high to the town.
c) The Town cannot afford to pick up this kind of cost.
d) We do not believe we are getting adequate attention from
the Town Meeting on the rising costs of fringes.
f) Chairman Bailey stated that for 2 years we have been aiming
in this direction.
g) We want Town Meeting to vote on this one , Chairman Furash
stated. It will not be debated if we don't go against it.
h) Mr. Busa stated that the Appropriation Committee knew about
this last year and that we have already committed outselves.
i ) Chairman Furash stated that he believed the citizen's should
know what they are getting for their dollars.
j ) Chairman Furash said he wanted to know the deficit on a 50/50
basis.
'flk) 2/3 municipalities are on 2/25 - 1/3 on 50/50.
1) We are telling the Town Meeting not to pay this bill:
m) We have never been told that this was in the contract the
Chairman stated.
n) J. Butler stated he felt this was all done in good faith and
that 75/25 was the only way now we had to package this.
o) Mr. Crain stated that the Boards must say "what kind of a
package they can afford" .
p) Chairman Furash stated that he wanted to know why he didn' t
have the Town Manager's latest figures?
II . APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE SECRETARY
Mr. John Blaisdell moves and Mrs. Patricia
A. Hagedorn seconds to accept with sincere
and deep regret Mr. Richard M. Perry's
resignation as Secretary of the Appropriation
Committee and that the Committee greatly
appreciates his fine , outstanding work.

At the Appropriation Committee meeting of February 17, 1976, 1
the following action was taken:
Mr. John Blaisdell moves and Mrs. Patricia A.
Hagedorn seconds to accept with sincere and
deep regret Mr. Richard M. Perry's resignation
as Secretary of the Appropriation Committee
and that the Committee greatly appreciates his
fine, outstanding work.
It was moved and seconded to nominate Mr. John
• Blaisdell as Secretary of the Appropriation
Committee. The Committee VOTED unanimously in
favor of Mr. Blaisdell as Secretary.

APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE SECRETARY Continued
It was moved and seconded to nominate
Mr. John Blaisdell as Secretary of the
Appropriation Committee. The Committee
VOTED unanimously in favor of Mr. Blaisdell
as Secretary.
A copy of the above was sent to Miss Mary R. McDonough,
�-- Town Clerk, The Board of Selectmen and Town Manager,
Walter O'Connell. (copy of letter attached)
Meeting adjourned at 11:00 P.M.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 23, 1976.
