The Appropriation Committee met with the Board of Selectmen
�- to discuss the Personnel problem here. Selectman Kenney gave
the Board's position and their reason for recommending the
hiring of new police to the force.
The Approprition Committee met in EXECUTIVE SESSION following
this meeting and so VOTED to concur with the Board on the
extra men.
II . FIRE DEPARTMENT
Selectman Bailey stated statistics and reasons why the fire depart-
ment is not up to full strength. One a year for four years would
be the goal. Chairman Furash made it clear that we were not
establishing a fire inspection bureau at this time and Selectman
Kenney and Bailey agreed. He also stated that he sees the one
more man as a safety valve and the one man a year makes sense
but does not buy it at this paticular time.
Meeting adjourned at 12:15 P.M.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday,March 17, 1975 at Carey Hall
prior to Town Meeting at 7:30 P.M.
