White, Vice Chairman-Schools, J.H. Blaisdell, Arthur T. Bernier, Martin A. Gilman, Richard M. Perry, Comptroller I . SCHOOLS Mr. White reported that the Metco increase will be 9.4% of ;.j the total. Tuition costs-$415. to $1,000. Present rate is low. State is presumably to reimburse. By February 17, 1975 Mr. White stated he will have a paragraph which states our position on the School budget. Re the closing of some schools Mr. White stated that we cannot object to this approach if it will ultimately save the taxpayer some money. II . FIRE 1. Mr. Silva met with the Committee to go over further his many plans for making the Department in his words "more mobile". 2. Mr. White suggested that maybe there are enough men on the force to carry out inspections. 3. Before a man is given to the Department the Chairman feels that a comprehensive report on exactly what the program in mind consists of. 4. Mr. Silva made mention of the repairs necessary in fire alarm boxes and how this is becomming a union problem. 5. Instead of having firemen going to schools to teach fire prevention it was suggested by the Committee that maybe the teachers themselves could learn more on this to teach the children. III . POLICE Availability of talent in list -- await report back from the Personnel Board on this. IV. PLANNING BOARD Met with the above Board, Board of Selectmen and Capital Expenditures. 1. Mr. Briggs is asking for $10,000 for maping. 2. Study Money - $15,000 - Recreation Study; goals and policy study. 3. Chairman Furash asked for a written report indicating just what has or has not been done and spent in the last three years. 4. Assurance from Planning Board that all developers put in dry sewers. 5. Flood Areas - Tophet Swamp Area; Great Meadows. 6. More information is to be had on: Flood Insurance and Flood Plan Maps. 132 V. ASSESSORS It was estimated by the Board of Assessors that in order to bring the Town up to 100% valuation it would cost approximately $35,000. This would be spread over a period of three years.
