School Committee is seeking a recommendation from the AC since the issue is financial. General discussion followed dealing with possible class size issues, reimbursement at $ 5,000 per student, once accepted into the system the student can elect to stay through the twelfth grade, transportation not paid for unless student's family meets certain income requirements, discussed the possibility of using existing space in order to generate funds. * MOTION to oppose school choice PASSED: MAJORITY (8/1) (PL) * General discussion of the AC's position on Article 4, specifically the pay raise issue and the funding source. * P Lapointe put forth the idea of reducing the raises to 1% with the funding to come from other previously approved appropriations. * G Burnell discussed possibility of using Article 34 to assist in solving the problem. His comments were not accepted very well!! * Sense of the Committee was as follows with the amounts indicating how much should be left in "free cash" and the percentage of increase to be granted.
