Present: G Burnell, C Coughlin, J Pagett, M Mairson, S Nablo, M O'Sullivan,
R Souza, R Borghesani, C Abbott, J Ryan
Absent: P Lapointe
* C Coughlin had attended SC meeting this evening and led a general discussion
SC seeking $ 742,000 from "Free Cash"
SC has revised the "Early Retirement Incentive" benefit to $ 180,000
SC predicts that the collective bargaining agreements will save $ 150,000
SC agrees to program cuts of $ 400,000
Total cuts of $ 730,000
* S Nablo discussed privatization and indicated that he thought that L Coit
and J Dini would support the idea. S Nablo handed out information on projected savings
and a general discussion followed. S Nablo met last Friday with J Dini,
D Busa, J Young and J Moynihan.
* G Burnell discussed Article 19, Misc School Article $ 2,145,000.
* MOTION to support article if State commits to a 59% reimbursement of the Hastings
School costs ($ 1,600,000)
PASSED: UNANIMOUS
* C Coughlin will prepare amendment to Article 4 as it relates to the school request
* J Pagett will prepare amendments for the Police and Fire budgets
* P Lapointe will prepare amendments DPW and Article 9
* G Burnell indicated that he thought that the SC and BOS were about to strike an
agreement on the FY 95 budget. Therefore AC must decide if it wishes to go forward with
the AC report and tell the SC and BOS we don't agree or buy into the agreement.
* AC cuts to date are as follows excluding the BOS adjustments:
$ 85,000,DPW street lighting and Cemetery compressor
$ 128,000,Police , reduce one sector of patrol
$ 400,000,Fire, privatize ambulance service
($ 331,000) DPW equipment, pay outright do not bond •
$ 282,000 net savings
* AC needs to be prepared to make presentation. Be ready to finalize stand at
meeting tomorrow night.
