*Ron Levy introduced to committee members
*Photo taken for annual town report
*Town report write up to be completed by November 30
*Ron Levy gave committee a biographical sketch
*Discussion of attendance at the upcoming ATFC conference
*Discussed the PAB and the feeling that the committee should nominate
an individual with a school background when an opening exists
Ron Levy suggested John Stayn, Asst. Superintendent in Weston and
Chr. Pagett requested other names for nomination
C. Burnell suggested that the individual would have to be accepted by all
in order to be effective
*Chr. Pagett rerported on the Chairman of the Committees Meeting
both the Town & School will attempt to hold FY92 increase to 3/3 1 /2%
school budget process commences on October 16
there appears to be good cooperation amongst all the boards
*general discussion as to wheteer the committee should make a public
statement regarding Questions 3&5
committee feeling should be expressed not en individuals position
some disincentive to serve if expression is stiffiled
committee should state the effect that certain issues may have on the
Town
concern of statements being made by the Chr. & Vice Chr. as being those
of the Committee as a whole if not couched properly
*statement of the Committee should be "The Appropriation Committee
feels that with the information available at this time the passage of
Question 3 would be equivalent to a reduction of approximately 5% in
appropriations which would cause significant reduction in both school
and town services."
*Chr. Pagett discussed TMMA executive board meeting
the "collusion" concept was brought up again by TMMA
TMMA feels that the 3 1/2% increase restricts them
Karen Dooks and Chr. Pagett discussed the role of both committees
*Chr. Pagett reminded members of their budget responsibilites
summarize meetings attended for other committee members
*November 5 meeting with Selectmen, AC, CEC regarding P1 92 capital
budget
*committee members who attended school budget sessions felt good
about living witin the 3 1/2% guidelines althogh some concern was
expressd over the failure to keep up necessary maintanence in order to
fund the recently settled contact with LEA
*next meeting scheduled for November19, 1990
