O'Sullivan discussed snow and ice and school budget T.M. indicated that Town can't continue to settle contracts @ 6% when schools are increasing @ 9.1% T.M. discussed variation between school and town personnel T.M. discussed personnel study and management review to be done for all non-union personnel -- M. O'Sullivan discussed water/sewer offsets in operating budgets T.M. discussed water/sewer enterprise health insurance Will PBC report to ATM on what was accomplished with $11.870,000. Campbell Also present Paul Newman, Phil Geiger and Sheldon Spector. M. O'Sullivan opened meeting to School Dept. P. Newman opened discussion indicating support from TM and Selectmen Paul Geiger expects final numbers this week *bottom line has been set and is currently being redistributed *summary of pluses and minuses handed out *administrative positions being cut by $363.000, none of which are teachers. some of these positions will be replaced by teachers *instructional support cuts discussed *eliminate sabbatical for 4 or 5 employees vs getting training for 425 employees *losing 134 students at high school, but adding 7 new teachers at elementary level *if high school reduction is 134 students *possible 11 retirees, mostly high school *sick leave buy back contracted out for all new hires *operating reductions - lunch program project leap, instrumental fee *total budget reduction $886,000 (also cut was approximately 4 million in teacher and administrative requests) . *Improvements to FY 90 Budget see attached *Capital Improvements $1,850.000 to be discussed at a later date *difficult to compare FY 90 budget to FY 89 due to different format Meeting adjourned 10:00 PM
