Attendance: Present: Jillian Tung, Steve Poltorzycki, David Hoose, Anwell Tsai, Doug Urban, Ashley Rooney, Marie Hewes Absent: Jessie Chen, Lisa Hebert, Melissa Talal, Shalim Kakar ,Suzie Barry Meeting start time: I. Call to order IL Secretary's report: Marie Hewes HI. Guest presentation: Jessie Steigerwald, Lex See Her Committee (Postponed?) IV. Financial update: Steve Poltorzycki - After comparing our books to the Town's records, here is the situation: State account: - Grants paid up to 6/30/21: $ 1,900.00 - Current balance about$ 7,005.00 Local account: - Current Balance : $ 2,188.08.00 (We need to make a decision about this amount) General Town account( You need to use the money or lose it): - The allocation from the state 7,900.00 dollars is not yet in our account. Revenues : - $ 1,555.31 revenue from the doors' auction. So the total available is 8,1330.81 dollars. V. Proposals related to funding: Steve Poltorzycki A/We discussed the allocation of the Local account balance: Steve proposed to keep that money for LCA projects, but it could also be used for grants. The motion from Ashley to keep the money for our own LCA projects is not approved by two members who feel that it would be better to add that amount for the grantees. Motion to review the question after having studied the Grants.Unanimous approval to that motion. B/ Steve proposes to apply to MCC for a grant(Max 2500 dollars/ deadline Nov 16) - What : Haiku poems project in the Spring: These poems would be painted on windows of stores. Artists can choose to decorate the poems: This is getting the community involved, people can visit stores. Cary library would be included: There would be workshops organized. We would also plan an event to celebrate. - When : Spring : Project would be completed by June 30th - How : we need volunteers to get the shopkeepers permission and ask them to contribute some money ( 50 dollars..)We are applying for an MCC grant. Motion by Jillian seconded by David/all approved. VI. Doors Auction update: Jillian Tung Doors were auctioned with the Historical society. 25% back to the artists. 25%Lexington 1,555 .00 dollars 15 out of the 16 doors sold. VII. Utility Boxes update: Steve Poltorzycki 9 boxes are painted (recreation area) 5 on street locations.So far great feedback.. Ashley prepared an article on the Colonial times. (Published in the November/December issue) " Lexington Council for the Arts Strikes Again!" There are 3 more boxes in the Historic district but it could be another project for the spring. We have 3 designs ready for these boxes, these are in files. VIII. Community input survey: Jillian Tung Mandated by the MCC to conduct a survey every two years. Jillian is resending the link of the survey and the paper version was shared during Discovery Day. The survey has been sent to social media, It is too late to advertise in the Colonial Times. Surveys are more powerful if you have a lot of people answering, so we need to advertise. Extend the deadline and advertise on Colonial times IX. Grants Committee update and discussion of evaluation system: Jillian Tung Grant committee : -The process is the following : We have 34 proposals and a" Panel book" has been prepared. Each member of the LCA will be filling a google form for each proposal using a point system. - Grants proposals receiving a low score will be informed but have the right to appeal our decision. We would review these appeals.Responses are due back by November 14th 10 days to complete the process) .Every grant proposal will be discussed.
