Pursuant to the law the Town Clerk of Arlington and Town
Clerk of Lexington met at Arlington t' is day at twelve o ' clock
noon , for the pure - se of canvassing the votes on the sixth day
of November for a Renresentative to the general court of the
Commonwealth to represent the. twenty- eighth Middlesex District .
Tti, e canvass showed the following result of the vot '`• s cast
in Arlington anr9 Lexington .
In Arlington , Elliott R . Barker had. nine thousand one
hundred forty- f nnr ( 9144 ) votes .
In Lexington , El ' iota H . Barker had one thousand nine
hundred and seventy ( 1970 ) votes .
In Arlington George E . Bri r -s had seven thousand six
hundred and forty - eight ( 7::48 ) votes .
In Lexington , George E . Briggs 11aA two thousand seven
lundred and forty- three ( 2743 ) votes .
The returns showed thn t Elliott R . Barker and George E .
Briggs had a majority of the votes cast in both towns , and a
certificate was accordingly filled out and signed by the clerks
of both towns , to be delivered to Elliott R . Barker of 26 Lombard
Rond , Arlington and George E . Briggs of Outlook Drive , Lexington .
