good chance of getting approved' Jim has a petition with 150 signatures' What
should be done about it - Betty to check with Mark 5andeen'
4. Recommendations for Roundabouts:
There is a roundabout proposed for Bedford, Harrington Road and Hancock St.
LBAC sub-committee (Dave, Suzan and Mike) researched what other towns have
done about roundabouts to make it safer for bikes. Dave-Good for cars. For
bicycles- maybe not. Slower cars at roundabouts - safer for bikes. Painted
bike lanes at roundabouts can be dangerous. Ross-it is a constrained/tight
location, historic properties, make sidewalks wide. 15,000 cars pass through
daily. Richard-roundabout is a good option/safe for cyclists
5. Signage Proposal:
Betty - Lots of work was done before 2019. Peggy and Mike T. did a lot of
work. We should restart - Speed Limits / Info / Welcome. Peggy- There is
money. Blue signs were put, not effective. How does one catch the attention of
"Jerks on Bikes"? There is Money for kiosks (Tool Design Group) . Suzan - Signs
need to be redesigned so they are not ignored. Discuss offline.
6. Liaison Reports
Richard Canale-Mass Ave/Scenic Byway - MassDOT -Rte 2A from Crosby Corner to
Rte 128-Repaving. Initially they said 4 feet of pavement from Cyclists. Now
back to what it was. Subcommittee trying to convince DOT to reduce speed AND
pavement widening for bikes.
Richard-Transit improvements for Hayden Ave companies. Maybe use it to 1050
Waltham townline. Asking for money? OR any specific? LBAC should weigh-in AND
propose thoughts. South Lexington Transportation Plan - Bike Lanes along the
whole length of Waltham Street - LBAC should propose ideas. (Susan said that
maybe discuss with Bob Peters - Planning Board) . LBAC person to volunteer to
talk with Bob Peters needed.
