Recommendations for Roundabouts: There is a roundabout proposed for Bedford, Harrington Road and Hancock St. LBAC sub-committee (Dave, Suzan and Mike) researched what other towns have done about roundabouts to make it safer for bikes. Dave-Good for cars. For bicycles- maybe not. Slower cars at roundabouts - safer for bikes. Painted bike lanes at roundabouts can be dangerous. Ross-it is a constrained/tight location, historic properties, make sidewalks wide. 15,000 cars pass through daily. Richard-roundabout is a good option/safe for cyclists 5. Signage Proposal: Betty - Lots of work was done before 2019. Peggy and Mike T. did a lot of work. We should restart - Speed Limits / Info / Welcome. Peggy- There is money. Blue signs were put, not effective. How does one catch the attention of "Jerks on Bikes"? There is Money for kiosks (Tool Design Group) . Suzan - Signs need to be redesigned so they are not ignored. Discuss offline. 6. Liaison Reports Richard Canale-Mass Ave/Scenic Byway - MassDOT -Rte 2A from Crosby Corner to Rte 128-Repaving. Initially they said 4 feet of pavement from Cyclists. Now back to what it was. Subcommittee trying to convince DOT to reduce speed AND pavement widening for bikes. Richard-Transit improvements for Hayden Ave companies. Maybe use it to 1050 Waltham townline. Asking for money? OR any specific? LBAC should weigh-in AND propose thoughts. South Lexington Transportation Plan - Bike Lanes along the whole length of Waltham Street - LBAC should propose ideas. (Susan said that maybe discuss with Bob Peters - Planning Board) . LBAC person to volunteer to talk with Bob Peters needed. 7. Other Business None +++++++++++++++ FoLB / Bike Lexington 1 /13 Open: 8:20pm 1. Treasurer's Report Bob Hausslein - 24500 in the kitty. 5000$ increased from last month. Omar taking over. 2. New England Tour de Cure presentation from Tim Wilson (Associate Director) Lexington to host American Diabetes Association Bike ride. TDC - Since 1991 - Premier Fundraising Event. 1 event in New England and 11 across the country (reduced because of Covid from 44) . Fractal Health is partner - Start/Finish at Hartwell Avenue. Aug 21- All day event. Need (1) Cyclist (2) Volunteers (3) Help with Bike Routes - 100 miles / 62 miles / 15 miles. Omar will take lead to get the LBAC/FOLB involved. 600 to 800 riders. Aiming for 750 to 1000. Susan - Part of your Zoom . Cross promote Safe Routes for school; 3. Plowing Update Stewardship - Took out the fence at Westview (Jim McLaughlin to fix it) . 4. Changes in FoLB leadership and mission Team got together 5. Upcoming Dates (volunteers needed for FoLB tables) • Spring Pedestrian and Bike Safety Fair, Saturday March 26, 1-4 pm, Community Center Volunteers Needed • LexDoingGood (event for non-profits) , Saturday, April 30, 1-4 pm, Cary Library Event for Non-profits / FOLB will have Table Close: 8:48pm +++++++++++++++
