Welcome • Thank you for reviewing the community feedback form and if you didn't, we will have a chance to review it later during this meeting. • Very pleased that we received 27 responses from families which gave us some great information to consider. 2. Approval of October minutes foundI_u.f.1E.. • Approved 10-0. 3. Update from Jackie Daley about • All elementary schools completed an MTSS Innovation Plans self-assessment. • Original idea for School Innovation Plan was to meet as a school/site council and create two-year plans to align with the strategic plan, then consult with CO for feedback. • Principal team realized that each school had varying thought on how to construct a plan, and the thought has now embraced an idea to develop collaborative, universal goals across all elementary schools. • Elementary admin teams are planning to assemble and write common goals, and then discretion to create individual benchmarks and action steps (i.e. PBIS could be a common goal for all, and could also have different benchmarks at each school). • First meeting with our admin team to develop goals will be held tomorrow, Friday, December 3. 4. Faculty and Community Feedback - • Jackie: We synthesized a lot of the data and shared Trends- the information together as a faculty. 51.2 ff 5 e],f,,,As s e, , men.„l, o Feedback from faculty was extremely helpful C.Q,u ,a „u „u„......,,U,uJ„L....21, and thought-provoking. • Self assessment from faculty: What are your thoughts SIP 2020-211 1E:..lE. as a Site Council? .............................. o Jane: Was the one grade level response representing individual teams? Jackie said yes, the individuals responding are part of the leadership advisory team and they represented their respective teams. o Rory: DCAP is an area for growth that will need to be updated in order to help define MTSS plans (fundamental area for growth across all schools). ■ Jackie: Harrington has started working on updating the DCAP and will share with other elementary schools in LPS. o Rory: Reviewing the synthesized information helped to identify strengths, relative strengths, areas for growth, and critical areas for growth. o Wei: Could we take a look at the results to see if there is a weighted mean/standard deviation? Jackie/Rory said yes, absolutely. Wei and Rory can tackle that to determine if there are any significant points of concern. • Self assessment from families: What are your thoughts as a Site Council? o Wei: Some of the sample sizes are small and is there a way we can solicit more feedback (27 responses)? Jackie reminded us that it isn't atypical to get this sort of response and that we as a Site Council have to identify areas to focus upon. o Liz: Can you share what was discussed about religious holiday observances? Jackie said that a document of recognized holidays was shared throughout the year and in terms of observance, we are reviewing this as a district to determine what will be in the calendar in terms of observance. o Jane: It feels like the holiday document is all encompassing; is the SC considering phasing out all religious holidays in terms of days off for students/staff? Jackie said SC is reviewing but no decisions have been made. o Jackie: DEI work continues and the hope is that a district curriculum will be approved shortly (i.e. currently using Dismantling Racism, Windows and Mirrors, etc.). o Larry: I wonder about the responses and the perception that there are not any inequities being accurate? There were only 22 responses. Jackie/Rory: Point well taken! How can we be creative to solicit feedback from families that may feel marginalized? As a school, we sent multiple reminders to folks but also realize how busy families are and/or may feel unwilling to share. We hope that our Site Council can help us reach a greater audience and share the work we are doing. o Larry: Years ago when attending SC meetings in Boston, families felt afraid to use their voice and I wonder if that is a continuing trend? Jackie: Excellent point and I think we are always looking for ways to get more feedback. Perhaps we can reach our Boston families in a different manner? o Larry: We really have to build this at the elementary level, there is no friends and family program at the Middle School. It's hard to connect but the effort has to be there. New business: • Harrington School Innovation Plan (SIP) will be Next meeting: January 20th, 2021 shared at the next meeting as a draft and we will discuss at our next meeting to gain your feedback.
