Welcome & Introductions: Ms. Barry welcomed all of the Commission members who in turn
introduced themselves to the other Commission members.
Review Commission Charge: Ms. Barry reviewed the charge to the Commission as voted on by
the Select Board and indicated that a Chair for the Commission and someone to take minutes
would need to be decided. For this meeting, Ms. Barry agreed to be responsible for the minutes.
Discuss/determine best meeting day/time: The members determined that Wednesday
afternoons at 4:00 pm looked to be the best meeting time at this point. The preference was to
continue to meet remotely.
2025 Calendar review: Ms. Barry reviewed significant dates on the 2025 calendar surrounding
the 2025 Patriots' Day weekend including: Patriots' Day: Monday, April 21, 2025; Easter:
Sunday, April 20, 2025; Passover: April 12-20, 2025. She indicated that events for the 250th can
be spread out over the year leading up to Patriots' Day 2025 and possibly extend for a year
beyond as well.
Review Federal, State, Local 2501h efforts to date: Ms. Barry reviewed the America 250
initiative at the Federal level, the Revolution 250 initiative at the State level and spoke briefly
about the Battle Road area Towns small meetings with a representative from each Select Board.
Ms. Barry also updated the Commission on State Senator Barrett's updated legislature to change
the State level 250th Committee to include a representative from all of the Battle Road
communities and not just the City of Boston. Ms. Barry also informed the Commission that the
Select Board had recently sent a letter to the US Postal Service in support of a three stamp series
for the 250th Anniversary and that the recently started Center Streetscape project and the Battle
Green Streetscape project are both currently scheduled to be completed prior to April of 2025.
Brainstorm ideas: Ms. Barry encouraged Commission members to talk to other members of the
community and think outside the box beyond what is typically done in relation to Patriots' Day
(use those events as a starting point) and be sure to be mindful that we are planning events for
people of all ages and abilities so think big and bold
